Sometimes I think I've played everything that had a set of strings. My very fist base was a Marvel, that was in 1963. About six months later I had the local music store order me a "P" Bass with a Jazz neck. In the years that followed, I've owned a Guild which I traded for a Gibson, which I traded back for a Fender and so on looking for that feel and sound. I have several basses now that I play and one of my favorite is the little BM 5 string.

I was looking for a Fender 5 string and just happened in to a new music store in the area. Not a single Fender in the place. The salesman asked if I had ever played a Brian Moore. At the time I'd never heard of one. He took one down, a cherry-red, tiger stripe 5 string. In less than five minutes, if it's possible to love a bass guitar, I did. After a few minutes of horse trading, and several I don't knows, I had to pull out the credit card. I got it for a little of 800.00 and to me it was worth every penny.

The first thing I noticed was the weight, not much at all. The second thing was the action. It reminded me of an EBO2 I had in the early 70's. The sound was all together different. It had a bottom end that was unreal. Turn a knob, flip a switch and you had all the high end you needed to be a thump-er. The active pick up battery change out was simple. For the first time "no screw driver". All in all I'm totally satisfied with the little BM.

The first thing I noticed about the little bass was the UGLY head, I'm still not use to it, but it's getting easier.

I'm not really crazy about the placement of the 1/4" jack. I understand the reasoning, guess I'm just too old fashion.

I'm not an engineer but I know what I like and I like the workmanship and the quality of the Brian Moore. The construction of the guitar is first rate, there were none of the little nick here or there, it was put together very well.

I realize that every now and then you may get a guitar that was made on a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon, that's expected. But, I'm here to tell you that I am totally happy with the little BM that I have and I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this instrument at Medley Music in PA. I paid approximately $900.00 brand new

Good Action on the neck. Natural easy handling. Good sound.

Prone to cutouts. Weak battery system, poor quality wiring, poor electronic pick ups. Poor eq. system. Standard maintenance not available locally, must be shipped back for standard maintenance. Will work well for 6-8 months, then require much maintenance.

Quality of wood is good. However, design makes maintenance difficult. Further, the quality of the electronis and wiring is poor. The input jack must stay at a precise angle or will cutout.

A bitter disappointment. Too many cutouts during gigs. My band members insisted I get new bass. Not reliable.

22 frets. Three Seymour Duncan pickups: two humbuckers, one Alnico II Hum in the neck position (for jazz, blues, etc.) and a JB Hum in the bridge position (good for fat distortion). One Alnico single coil pickup (for vintage rock)

UTILIZATION

Very pleasant maple neck but with fret noise! I tried everything to adjust the neck but the fret noise remains.

The guitar is not too heavy, it's pleasant to carry

I never used the USB interface because I have a much better external sound card.

The auto-locking tuners are reliable although they tend to break the strings in some cases.

You can split the humbuckers thanks to the pull function of the knobs. Classic solution but not always convenient.

I regret that the tremolo bar is screwed down... I prefer a tremolo bar you can simply push in the bridge like on a Wilkinson system I know. That system is faster and allows you to have an accurate floating tremolo bar, which is not really possible with this one...

SOUNDS

I bought it for its sound!

I wanted a warm and brilliant sound but not a twangy Strat-like sound.

The single coil and the neck pickups are perfect for clean sound. The different pickup combinations produce a sound that ranges from funk to jazz to Robbie Kriegger (The Doors' guitarist). The bridge pickup is useless for clean sounds.

But it provides a distorted sound that is heavy, metallic and brilliant.

The neck pickup needs a heavy distortion or a fat fuzz. In that case it sounds very good and increases the versatility of the guitar. But it has too much punch to be used in another context.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been owning it for three years.

I don't regret having bought it (but who would say he bought a bad product?).

The guitar looks wonderful and it gives me the sound I was looking for.

It's very versatile (every sound is good!) and I am still discovering new applications.

Would I recommend it? No! I want to be the only one using it!

UTILIZATION

Channel enjoyable and ACCS easy but frieze! I can not dfaire me despite all my trials rglage.
Guitar enjoyable and not too heavy "bear"
I've never used the USB external sound card with one that is much more convenient and better in terms of sound quality
The self-mcaniques blocks play well even if their rle in some case they increase the manipulation of strings
The dual microphones single pass by pulling on the knobs. Systm forcment classic but not practical.
Brief comment on the vibrato, it's a shame it is vis ... I had another Systm with a Wilkinson vibrato o much fat is just pulling on the stem. C'tait faster and above all has meant that a non-rigid without vibrato of the game, which is not quite the case here ...

SOUNDS

That's a decision I have!

I wanted a warm, bright and not slamming trs like strats.

The pickups are perfectly simple and stick with clear sound. By varying the combinations of sounds gives trs trs funky jazz, sounds similar to those of Robbie Kriegger (guitarist of doors). As against the bridge pickup and unusable for me in his light.

To sound more saturated but its excs the neck pickup is perfect for a big sound and very heavy and always mtalique trs brilliant.

Finally the bridge pickup is good for me when strong saturation and large fuzz. L is fully justified and offers a range of his shot supplmentaire the guitar. He really got too much punch for my be used otherwise.

OVERALL OPINION

I have 3 years.

I do not regret this purchase (at the same time we will often say that we bought the shit ...).

The sound I wanted and more scratch trs trs a beautiful and original.

Large variety of his (and all good!) I have not finished discovering uses.

A counselor? No! I'll be the only one to have!
