Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Rosewood

Eric Johnson has been a long time user of Fender guitars, and it was only natural that he'd get his own signature guitar. This combines both modern and classic features into one guitar. The guitar features an alder body, a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, 21 frets, dot inlays, vintage tremolo, three single coil pickups, one volume, two tones and a five way switch.

UTILIZATION

The main thing about this guitar is that the radius has been changed from a 9.5'' radius to a 12'' radius. This helps a ton when it comes to playability, in my opinion. I'm not somebody who likes small radius guitars, so this was right at home with me. The neck on this is extremely huge, so keep that in mind. If you like smaller necks, look elsewhere in the Fender lineup because this is really a baseball bat of a neck. The finish on the neck itself is also a touch thick. That aside, the rest of the guitar was pretty much spot on in every way.

SOUNDS

The pickups in these are awesome. The bridge works great for that strat style rhythm tone. It's bright, but it's not so bright that it knocks you off your feet. By turning the tone knob, you can get a super fat rhythm tone, or you can even use this as a cutting lead tone. The in between positions were really the star of the show as they continued to deliver some of those great, funky lines that worked glorious for clean tones. The neck position delivered that classic Fender tone that is pretty much unbeatable. The only real issue with these is that they're slightly underpowered for anything other than rock/blues/jazz/funk. Granted, that covers a good bit of styles, but I wouldn't play Malmsteen on this thing.

OVERALL OPINION

This is my new go-to Fender. They really knocked it out of the ballpark with this one. The only thing I'd change is that I'd add a maple board to this. Thankfully, they have maple board versions of these, so it's pretty much the perfect classic strat in every way. The 12'' radius is really a life saver on this thing.

Comes with its very rigid flight case "class" (uh ... very different from flights Gibson Moumoute Rose Leopard ...).

UTILIZATION

Well ... Ds entering the heart ....
The neck is super mega nice .... I played up when only on LP ... I'm not too struggled to change their conduct .... . The grip is pretty good (excellent ???). We feel confident from the 1st few notes. The nail glue a little early but this effect fades away fairly quickly.
The ergonomic design is flawless. The frets are super nice, very "slippery". Bend it like a pool (if the term should mean qqchose ...). Whistling harmonics ds fingers out the nose.
Accessibility side, treble s'attrappent very well form part of the stratum.

And the sound you say?
Ben .... Whaow! It's mind-blowing! Its super-snapping crunch or saturated depending on the settings used microphones. I who was from his very fat, I'm surprised to love this so distinctive snapping good strats. I wanted MY stratum for 2 things primarily: the type of lyrical or tap the Gilmour beef with the guys as bluesy mood. Yep ... Well, there's no photo, provides beautiful like a beast in the 2 registries. 5 mic positions available ... qq Tone adjustments and / or issue and you must find your happiness. Even without being plugged in, you feel beautiful vibrate in your hands ... and long! A super sustain. The tremolo block is the kind Vintage (57 strat inspiration I think) which requires a little practice qd meme (especially as I come from far away with my LP).

SOUNDS

The sounds are typical Start sound: slap! Thereupon imagine a good clean sound, and saturated or ... and you have a few words of a remarkably versatile machine. A little hum all the same until you find the right setting Tone / Volume. I love the neck pickup, great bluesy.
I currently have a Marshall amp (uh ... it was done for my other guitar ...) and I can not imagine the killing if I played on a Fender amp. With multi-effects, I manage to erase qd same side a little saturation Marshall.
I love this guitar! As the other also. They are complementary.


OVERALL OPINION

The overall opinion?
Start the EJ is beautiful to the eye. The handle is carved in the direction of the grain of the wood, the frets polished way super craftsman, very accurate. The body is to fall color Sunburst.
The beast is remarkably homogeneous seems to me it does ....
I tried to make my purchase a Start Reissue U.S. 57 and, without really knowing why, I let myself be seduced by this EJ ... Probably the comfort of the handle I think. This profile "Soft C" is a highway.
The value is good I think. Because we must not lose sight that we are talking about a high-end guitar at any point of view. By snobbery, I did not want Mexican (some of which are also very good). But here, a strat U.S. is a dream qd meme!
I would do this by choice experiment?? 2 times yes!
