Ibanez is really known for their very inexpensive budget friendly instruments. Many other guitars range around $300-$600. They do have some more expensive models such as the prestige or signature models that fetch a much higher price tag. But overall most of their instruments range around the first initial price I mentioned. This gives many musicians such as myself and many others affordable guitars that sounds great in pretty much any setting an application.

SOUNDS

This guitar features a mahogany base wood with a flame maple top. This gives the instrument a very resident deep throaty type tone primarily because of the warm mahogany wood that is used in the body. When you couple that with the flame maple top which generally is a higher frequency type would you get a great balance of frequencies and tone. One of things I don't particular care about this guitar is the gold hardware that is throughout the instrument. I never been a fan of gold hardware and I usually leaning towards chrome and sometimes black. Overall that doesn't shape or control any of the tone of the guitar but it just cosmetically looks a little strange to me. This guitar still sounds great in pretty much any application you put them in to so don't be afraid to try it in a clean or even an ultra high gain setting.

OVERALL OPINION

These guitars have been discontinued now for quite some time so the only way to get one is in the use classifieds online or in many forums. This is a cool guitar for the money but I honestly find that many of the newer Ibanez models feature some great features and are much more accessible guitars. This is a great guitar if you can find one for decent by price than I suggest grabbing it.

UTILIZATION

I'll give this area a 10. It's hard to top the playability of a late 80s, early 90s Ibanez guitar made in the Fujigen plant in Japan. This model is no exception - the Wizard neck is thin, sleek, and very fast, and the fretwork is impeccable. The level of action...…

UTILIZATION

I'll give this area a 10. It's hard to top the playability of a late 80s, early 90s Ibanez guitar made in the Fujigen plant in Japan. This model is no exception - the Wizard neck is thin, sleek, and very fast, and the fretwork is impeccable. The level of action one can achieve on this guitar is so low, the strings are nearly right on top of the frets, so it takes just a modicum of effort (with a light touch) in order to activate the string. Fret access is great. The body is ergonomic enough, and light to boot, and the S540 balances very well. As an added bonus, the Lo-Pro Edge tremolo system stays in tune very well, even on the wildest whammy tricks!

SOUNDS

The stock Ibanez pickups are very good. Good enough that many people leave them in - they are richly defined, with a nice presence and aggressive attack, smooth singing sustain, and great "in-between" Strat funk tones. The 5 different selections on the switch provide ample tonal variety, allowing this guitar to be used in nearly any style. It excels in shred/fusion/metal types, but it's a great guitar for jazz, reggae, and I could even see someone using it in a country band.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a marvelous instrument. Ibanez has been known for making great guitars for a long time, but I feel that the 80s and 90s were their golden era for extremely playable axes. There are still a lot of these guitars out there, so finding one shouldn't be too difficult, and it would be well worth the effort to do so just for the neck alone.

I found my happiness by playing with this S540FM.

I was looking for a guitar that could be one with me. It should be lightweight, easy to play, beautiful.
This scratching at all (for my taste). The handle is the end of the series, the ancastillage gold is beautiful and gives a taste of luxury at all.
The vibrato is very handy, and access to acute on the handle is in a very easy (incredible), the jumbo frets allow a really fast game by helping to accuracy.

It is a very versatile instrument, which uses microphones okay but did not satisfy me completely (used to the sounds and Duncan DiMarzio).

That's if you like this tool, go for it without fear, manufacturing made in japan quality is impeccable

UTILIZATION

I used it on stage, in studio, run very pleasant, easy access aus treble, vibrato is stable, it does not damage the strings too, but hey, after a time it breaks, it is more of chords of vibrato, his rating is really a very good deal, whatever the musical style played, I use it with ropes "Dean Markley Blue Steel Cryogenic 09/42" has always been a wonder, this guitar is always curiosities from another guitarist in session, with the studio when I arrive, I'm on me (and her)

SOUNDS

I no longer use the amp for a long time (eg JCM900 2CH) on stage I of the branch multi effects pedals (some laughs already) sounds like the engineers who made the concert some of scales, I use a pedalboard DIGITECH RP 10, and when the sound arrives at the console through the amp and speakers on the spring, in stereo, it was quite the wonder, the laughter, no breath no loss, a pure (I gave my opinion on this product soon) the essential use in saturation, I like it, share my musical style in the studio, nothing stoop to the use in clean

OVERALL OPINION

Possession in my 10 years, no disappointment, if I bought another guitar for the replacement, I will take the same, I paid at the time around 9500f, cétait my budget
