Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster

The Squier Affinity Strat is a great bargain! Mine is black with rosewood fingerboard and the classic '70s 'big' Fender headstock. The Squier is set up like most Strats: three single-coil pickups, five-way pickup selector switch; classic six-screw tremolo bar; 21 frets; solid alder body; diecast tuners; one Volume and two Tone controls; white pickguard. I've been playing professionally as a bassist for 45 years.

I'm a bassist but I know enough guitar to be dangerous with small children. I wanted something that would allow me to put down basic -- and I mean basic -- rhythm tracks for home recording. And I didn't want to spend a ton. I picked this instrument up at Hollowood Music in...…

I'm a bassist but I know enough guitar to be dangerous with small children. I wanted something that would allow me to put down basic -- and I mean basic -- rhythm tracks for home recording. And I didn't want to spend a ton. I picked this instrument up at Hollowood Music in McKees Rocks, PA (one of the area's oldest music stores) for $125 without case.

The Squier Strat is well made, looks great and sound much more like a 'real' Fender Strat than some of the other foreign-made Strat copies. Pretty much a one-stop solution for a basist like me who dabbles in guitar.

I like everything about this guitar. Although I'm sure a real guitarist would hear a difference between the sound of the Squier and the American made Strats, it is perfect for my needs.

Fit and finish are first-class -- no sharp fret ends, nice finish on the body. Played well right out of the box with no adjustment. It holds tune better than many of the $100 guitars I've played and comes with the Fender warranty if any problems do develop.

The Fender Squier Affinity Strat is a bargain-priced (less than $150) guitar for someone looking for the Fender sound and vibe without breaking the bank. Plays well right out of the box and a great alternative to those no-name Strat clones almost very music store seems to have.

I got this as a Christmas present at a local music store. I was going to get an electric for Christmas and I went to the music store with my parents to try the guitars out and tell them which one I liked. It came in a pack for $299. Considering it's my first electric, (I have an acoustic I've been playing for almost a year now)I wasn't going to go off and have my parents spend a thousand dollars on a guitar that isn't really my favorite anyway. So I tried it out out at the store and I figured it was a good deal so what the heck.

So I tried it out out at the store and I figured it was a good deal so what the heck.

I like the feel of it, slightly slender than other strats. The look of it is amazing; I have a black one but it came in other colors. On my own personal preference I like the 9 gauge strings they put on it since my fingers aren't that callused and it sometimes hurts a little after a really long time of fretting the strings. The pick ups are great except my amp, I got with the guitar, has a hum. Though, when I plug it into any other better made amp it sounds fine.

The only thing I don't like about this is the fact that it's not a Fender. haha I mean, I'd prefer Fender over Squire anyday because of some so-called differences in quality. Plus Fender is what most of my fanortie musicians play.

I believe it's built quite solid. It just "feels" like it is. I haven't dropped it because I always try to be careful with my instruments when carrying them somewhere or whatever.

I think this is a great guitar for it's price. I personally prefer acoustics ten times more than electrics but this is a good guitar for being "my electric".

Fender Squire

I acquired this very simple and uncomplex unit for around $170. It was given to me last Christmas for I was in dire need of an electric guitar, so I thought.

I like the stylish view of the Fender made instrument. It is black with a maple neck, very common but classy. It is very easy to restring, a BIG plus for me since I have better things to do than sit around restringing my guitars. The guitar was made very user friendly and easy to pick up and just mess around with.

For one thing the volume "knob" came loose after like the first month, which didn't really bother me since it still worked. But eventually you had to finess it to a certain possition, which was tricky since you could...…

For one thing the volume "knob" came loose after like the first month, which didn't really bother me since it still worked. But eventually you had to finess it to a certain possition, which was tricky since you could turn the knob 360 degrees multiple times. Not only that but the full bass and treble pickups hum a little when u switch them on.

The construction and quality are very good I'd say for the price you pay for it. I know I've dropped it getting it out of my car or banged it walking around a corner, but it just laughs at the punishment. The only problem I had was with the volume knob once, but thats fixed now.

If your looking for a cheap, sturdy, easy playing guitar, then this Squire is right for you. May not give you the sound or "flashiness" you may be looking for but its price, its unbeatable. The #1 guitar for beginners.
