The Pacifica is the premium fabrications Korean Yamaha.
Its characteristics have already been mentioned in the previous opinion, I will not go.
I will add just that SH4 is splittable over the tone knob which happens to be a push-pull.

Side equipment, it is true that the service is exceptional for the price (700 euros new mid-2004), I will not hesitate to say that we have is a stratabound doped to less than a half US Fender.

I will, however, a downside because when you open the back cover, installation-mail is not the cleanest unfortunately. There are so few solder bridges approximate and for reasons of economy, no doubt, there are two ground points ... a spring on the support of the bridge, another on the volume knob if I remember correctly. This "detail" that seems trivial in the long run is annoying because it often has parasites by touching the lever of vibrato.
I therefore intend to rewire itself by slightly changing the combinations of microphones in the process.

I put 8 / 10 for this mass defect is unfortunately too common in many luthiers, even famous.

UTILIZATION

The neck was the main reason I bought the Yam, as is stirring finish for a guitar Asia.
The very thin layer of lacquer allows speed and accuracy very good, so is comfort issue palace! Access to acute is impeccable. Having played a bit on Vigier Excalibur, the handle of the Yam is still a notch below, but they do not play in the same category either.

However, it must admit that the violin is truly excellent, the proof is that it sounds great vacuum and it has a very good sustain.

His side was a traditional palette Start with the splittable humbucker in the bridge position but it really lets ogle SH4 towards more muscular styles, something that is very nice and makes it an extremely versatile guitar.

9 / 10 because perfection is not of this world.

SOUNDS

I play mostly 70's rock (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin) and post-rock (Mogwai).
My favorite combinations of pickups are single race (his Hendrixien), + environment to run a softer sound and bridge only for solos and parts crunch / distortion. The positions of medium alone and split the middle + bridge I do not like really being angry with the country ...

The sound possibilities are vast, we can move from blues to hard rock (metal or even not too hard) with no problem. For jazz and extreme metal, one must look elsewhere because the wood used (alder and maple for the body to the handle) gives a fairly snapping signature.

I play on a preamp light of Hughes & Kettner Tubeman coupled with a Roland Jazz Chorus 77.
Performed only on the JC-77, it becomes really consider the quality of this guitar because this amp is the most transparent, and there tear ca. I branch out, however, the only preamp clear sound of the JC-77, and there it rocks! Tearing around like that, I put 9 / 10.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been a year and a half that I, as bassist in the beginning, I was looking for a versatile guitar without typing beyond 800/900 euros. On this point, I'm thrilled because it is in my opinion one of the best quality / price ratio that can exist. Here we have a stringed instrument of a flawless despite some minor flaws electronics (which I believe can be repaired without great expense).

In summary, a guitar great playing comfort, equipped with a large (micro SD Sperzel and mechanical) for half the cost that much. What could be better?
