BBE MaxCom

The BBE MaxCom compressor a 2 XLR, 2 ¼ input and 2 XLR, 2 ¼ outputs unit that can be racked. It is also very well made and portable being only about 5 pounds or so. The main decision to go with this compressor came from its side chain abilities because it has 2 ¼ side chain in and out. The ration is 1:1 to 11:1 with a great frequency response of 20Hz to 20 kHz all in this 2 channel compressor. Using the MaxCom you will not have any issues with clipping because of the peak limiter. The MaxCom has a 4th gen Sonic Maximizer in it which is way better than the VST maximizer that we were using during the time.

UTILIZATION

One of the first things that I noticed with this compressor is that it has 2 separate and independent compressors that each gives you full control over the dynamics and functions. The fact that it is a 1 rack unit but still gives you two compressors was a huge bonus for us and made it a must have.

SOUND QUALITY

If you have ever used a compressor before that had a hard time eliminating noise then this MaxCom will blow your mind away with how it can eliminate those noises with its compression and gate. Setting this compressor up is very easy, it does come with a manual that can walk you through anything you might have questions about.

OVERALL OPINION

You will have no issues getting a huge sound with this compressor, I am not a fan of the bright red color though but other members of my group love it. It would have been better if they used a more neutral color. But, for the price you will not find a better compressor that has 2 independent compressors built into a single rackable unit. It is a great product at a great price and I am very happy that I purchased this when it first came out.

Compressor (1:1 ratio deep as you like: 1), manually adjustable attack release threshold as it should but also automatically. Moreover it is a noise gate Quipp and BBE.
The limiter is effective, the support measures.
The BBE process compensates for the phase shift of the string sound, giving the division a better understanding of restitution and natural harmonics (unlike other artificial exiter): the sound is much less dull.

-In addition to the functions cited prcdemment it possdent symmtriques has inputs and outputs XLR +4 dB (or jack) and asymtrique against jack-10dBv for the 482i.

By the finish against the maxcom lgre is a bit at the pots but not for long and positive one given meter. It's made in China and finish suffers compared to amricains MODELS.

UTILIZATION

I wanted to buy this unit for the gate function and BBE because I dj a compressor. I used the Compressor Limiter BBE mode (ratio 1: inf) is a real wall. The BBE starts end of string.

There's a link mode, and fortunately for the rglage manual lacks a bit of precision (no digital display).

Warning: I noticed that the bypass n'tait not true. Pert is an average of 3 dB compared to the original signal (I measured with a DEQ 2496). Design or default Truanderie marketing?

Do not push the bottom rglages systmatiquement, dose depending on your hardware, starting from 0.

SOUND QUALITY

The impact on the sound is impressive in the studio or live.
When will numrique between? The signal noise might be a bit better.

OVERALL OPINION

I know the plug in and I have the bass preamp. It's the same concept! What happiness!

For technology, I think the game gate / comp is analog and the digital part maximizer is (check).
The connection is sufficient (I / O on XLR or TRS 6.35, side-chain input jack 6.35 (TS or TRS, I do not know ...).

UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, manual quite sufficient.

-1 For the double mini-knobs maximize;
-1 For controls maximizer NOT linkable from one channel to another (must be scrupulously copy values ​​from one channel to another in stereo mode).

SOUND QUALITY

Very satisfactory.

The gate part is very brief (a single knob), but it defends itself quite well.
The compressor plays its role and for this price, the best I've heard by far!
Section maximizer is very well made too.

However:
-1 For lack of headroom on the input of the compressor (I plan to stick me a pad of-6dB is so boring);
-1 Because even if it is good, you can hear the clicks trigger on signals such as kick of 808 (ok, it's a signal that requires a good compressor, but good).

There is no adjustment Knee, which is a pity ...

That said, it's still a device that sounds great.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6 months in a config LIVE MACHINE. I used to compress / enhencer mix all except / the kick (s) and voice (and other sources as needed) from the side-chain, which is drive by / the kick (s).

I tried a few compressors that price range (Behringer, Samson) and other more prestigious part of my work.

The price / quality ratio is unbeatable (about € 200 new and it sounds great anyway).

Severe lack of headroom on the input, but I would definitely do it again this election!
