« Very good compressor "Modern" »

UTILIZATION
The operation is relatively simple if you know how to use a compressor. It offers a lot of possibilities for sound shaping. That said, it is not a tool to put all hands, beginners are likely to be very fast (very) disappointed with the result.
SOUND QUALITY
The set is quite effective, mainly on drums, percussion and acoustic guitars also. However, I would not recommend for full mixes (or possibly used "British way", just to make its color without too compress the signal). Pushing the input level and the ratio above 10 can be destructive, which can be interesting on rhythmic loops (to highlight behind a charley or reverb tail is ideal) . Depending on the settings it can still be quite transparent (with the attack between 0 and 3). We arrive at the well-kept low (with low settings of attack) and quickly control the sound and then get the right material for the right mix. It sounds very "modern".
Her areas of interest are for me the compression separate instrumentals on groups (mainly drums), it binds together well with very good consistency. For use on a master, I much prefer him my Manley. I also found the SSL G-Series much more musical than the Distressor.
OVERALL OPINION
I served for two years and I do not regret it. I tried, owned or has other models and it has that something that others do not.
A bit expensive but the result is there is definitely upscale. For those who want something very versatile compressor first high-end, I would recommend them to see the side of Manley, SSL, or the API 2500 which are much more of a musical master and do better in this purpose.
I am very satisfied, I would do this without hesitation NIOHC.
