SpaceMonger (http://werkema.com/software/spacemonger.html) is a utility for viewing the contents of the disk (for PC).

Each folder / file is represented by a colored area of a size proportional to the space occupied on the disk.
Great way to find large files lying around, the issues that have taken belly ...

One can zoom in on a folder, and even delete it.
