Purchase 2013
Previously peavey classic 30 with mod lamps (not good for the harmonization given the value for money + poor sound at low volumes)
His best on fender blues junior: but choosing without hesitation I precarious field

UTILIZATION

It could not be simpler.

No settings, just a volume button!

Sound clean / crunch fender is without having to torture their brains to seek compromise.

I do not have a manual, just instructions.

SOUNDS

I used it with several guitars, but with a TELECASTER and ES335, I got "in my ear" the best made.

Its balanced, good attendance is perfect. Pushing the volume above 12 you start to crunch nicely ... a treat.

I tested it with pedals, it is also very good .... try it with a touch of reverb!

OVERALL OPINION

I have 2 years.

Value for money kit at Marsh Amp excellent. Much less version mounted Fender, or if the sound quality is absolutely not in question, it is obviously the price is a little cry.

This is about as basic as it gets. Fender sought out to build a small compact combo practice amp that could be played along to recordings that you could crank with one control volume knob and gets a sweet rich tone.

This amp only comes at 5 watts which mean you can crank this thing all day long and not offend too many people with loud noise complaints.

SOUNDS

I'll be honest I don't think it sounds like the vintage '57 amps that I have heard or played. It sounds like a thin solid state practice amp. I really don't think it has much tone or warmth that the originals had.

I have heard this amp with a Fender Stratocaster and telecaster and neither one made any difference on my opinion about the amp. They both sounded like good guitars going into a poor sounding amplifier. I'm not a fan of this tone at all.

OVERALL OPINION

I have to say it...this is a waste of money. I know that it will cost you a few thousand dollars to get an original, but if you are dying to have that tone then it might be worth it to you to pass on this one. The tone is coming from an 8 inch speaker but it just sounds bad!. There is nothing I can really say about it other than what my ears are telling me.

At new these amps come in at around $1000, which is about $950 overpriced. I think a Pignose would actually sound better than this amp. I do not recommend this amp to anyone. There are better amps that can give you the small speaker tube tone.

The Fender '57 Champ is small tube based guitar amplifier designed for practice and recording purposes. The amp is pretty tiny, consisting of only five watts of power and a single 8" speaker. The amp has two 1/4" inputs for plugging your instrument(s) into.

UTILIZATION

There is simply nothing that you need to know to operate the Fender '57 Champ. It only has a volume knob to control how loud your sound will be, and nothing else at all to control your tone. While this makes using the amp a breeze, I do wish that there was at least some EQ to work with here, as beyond the volume control and the controls on your guitar or effects pedals, there isn't anything that you can do to change your sound within the amp itself. A manual surely isn't necessary to have to operate this amp.

SOUNDS

For such a small guitar amp, the Fender '57 Champ can absolutely wail. It can get pretty loud, but since I've only used it for practicing and recording, I've never needed to have it on more than five or six. Although it can get pretty loud, I definitely wouldn't recommend using it for live shows as it isn't loud enough for that sort of use. The amp sounds incredible when using a Fender guitar like a Stratocaster or a Telecaster, as nothing beats the Fender on Fender sound in my opinion. The only downfall of the tone is that there aren't more parameters to work with here.

OVERALL OPINION

As far as practice amps go, the Fender '57 Champ is certainly up there with the best of them. It is built piece by piece after the classic 1950's Fender amps. However, since this is a replication Fender will charge you a whole lot of money here for a five watt amp. For this reason, I'd encourage those interested in getting an amp of any type to stray from this and get something bigger that has more versatility. However, if you're looking for a collector's item that is nonetheless a great sounding amp to be used for practicing and recording only, you can't go wrong with the '57 Champ.
