Small, 60-watt all-tube amp that can single-handedly deliver more power into its speaker than many other amp heads with higher ratings. Despite the year of production, you can be sure it's made in the US, with a quality hardly seen today. You have an EQ, a spring reverb, a stand-by for the tubes, a master volume and a rather nice overdrive. On the back you have an effects loops, which is nice. No headphones output, which is normal on an all-tube amp.

UTILIZATION

The key word is use. You turn the red knobs, the brand's trademark, and you can easily find YOUR sound. Thank God Fender does things right, mamma mia! It's awesome! Half way up, the clean channel starts to crunch heavily, but the sound remains crystalline and pure. It's an amp that can make even the worst guitars sound good.

SOUNDS

I won't beat around the bush. I had never been a Fender fan. Until the day my dad gave me his "old" amp saying: Here you have something to enjoy yourself. And he was not mistaken. I've tried everything on top of it, from the grimy metal zone to the digitechrp2000 multieffects and the floor pod plus. Once you have found the right settings, this amp can deliver any sound in any style. I helped out a buddy of mine during a good death metal concert since the tubes had burned out. With the right settings and some good effects, it saved his day. And my small combo left more than one dumb founded. The only con is that the distortion/overdrive sounds really dirty for my taste, and the spring reverb isn't very impressing.

OVERALL OPINION

This small combo is 25 years old, according to the warranty card. The tubes had to be changed once during this period. The knobs make no noise after several years and the sound is still amazing. What warmth and tone. When I play stairway to heaven with my gibson les paul custom, I come close to the sound of jimmy page.

If I could find this type of amp at a modest price today, I don't think I'd hesitate. But vintage gear is pretty popular and it's impossible to find it for less than $600-$700 unless it's in pretty bad shape. So, I don't want to sell mine. It's...priceless!!!

The Super 60 is an all-tube Fender amp. It develops a power of 60W.
Before buying this amp I had a Princeton Chorus, but had not the power to play in groups. I then DCID to take the plunge into an amp lamps. That was more than 15 years and I always regret it!

Like any amp lamps, it also has a power on / off and a standby.

As against it has no master volume!

On the back side, it is possible to open the loop between the preamp and amp for example, add effects or use another type of pre amp.

Power level, he moves really. I've used live in a fairly large room (~ 800 people) without having to go through the table!
When the lights are hot, the sound is really excellent

Level space, it has a HP, so space is limited, as against all filled with lights, it weighs a ton! It is not practical to repeat stroll!

UTILIZATION

Negative: no master volume. So if you need to play a part of a song in his clear and another in saturated two volumes must be set so that the whole is cohrent. It really is not very practical.

Also this amp is powerful enough, if one channel is saturated with a high gain, even at a minimum, the sound is still quite strong. The amp is not very Adpater for use in apartment!

Given the small number of settings, the amp could not be simpler to use.

SOUNDS

For the styles of music I play (or rather blues rock), this amp is really perfect. I do not play in groups then as the power is really too large for my use, I wondered for a moment if I did not change the amp, but I can not find the same quality of its amp in a smaller ... So I always had the one!

The distorted sounds are sublime, clean sounds very pure ...

I play this amp with a Fender and a Gibson SG strato. Since I do not want sounds very bold, and I also have an SG, I did not want a marshall. Combining the two seemed too aggressive for my taste.

Strato with no problem. The marriage is perfect.

It is true that, as often with the amp lights, he gives his best even when the lights are hot and a fairly large volume.

OVERALL OPINION

So I use this amp for more than 15 years, repeating, in a group home in concert ... The sound is really beautiful. The main disadvantages are
- No master volume
- Significant weight
- Difficult to play down the volume

The amplifier provides 60 Watts is - say a lot of power, ideal for scnes and RPTS. It possde 5 lamps, 3 and 2 in powers pramp.
His rock-type saturated blues.
Note also rverb superb, as always with Fender ...

Easy and effective: volume-saturation-frquences-prsence-rverb.
The sound is very easy to work, whatever the good rglage.

I use it for 2 years, no particular problem report. Report qualitprix my opinion excellent. In comparison with other lamps amp I had (including Peavey Classic 50), there is no photo ...

60w tube amp manufactured back in the '80s with 12" speaker. 60w with tubes, so the sound is huge. Footswitachble clean and distortion modes. EQ and two inputs, FX loop and the possibility to add another speaker to the combo.

UTILIZATION

Easy setup. It's pretty easy to get a good combination with the treble, middle, bass, and presence controls.

SOUNDS

You can play any style. I use it with an ibanez as 200 hollowbody and a fender amrican standard. It's the fabulous Fender sound revisited by Paul Rivera. I modified it with jj tesla tubes, which are very warm and full of harmonics.l. I have played with many marshall, musicman, polytone, ampeg, mesa, and peavey tube amps.. And my pick is the super60, which unfortunately is not manufactured anymore.

OVERALL OPINION

I've used it for 11 years and bought it secondhand. Unbeatable value for money. It's great for all styles. Do not hesitate if you find one.

OVERALL OPINION

This is an amp that I looked a long time. It should be very well my music. I love playing the Pink Floyd and it's great!
I do not regret one thing, the fact of having only equalizer for both channels. It's a shame.
Cot power, WOW! I jou cellar with a drummer who was beating like crazy and I got along + bass perfectly.

SOUNDS

I play funk, blues, jazz, and rock, and this amp is perfect for all these styles.

I have an Epiphone dot ES335. I can get a warm and round sound or a twangy one.
Otherwise, I have a BD2, a DS1, a cry baby wahwah and a jamman. The BD2 sounds really well with this fender.

You can use this amp to play at home, for rehearsals or live, its power is perfect.

OVERALL OPINION

I've used it for a year. Bought it secondhand for $520, it was a great deal.
I love the warmth and roundness I get with this amp/guitar combination.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

On the other hand, it's quite heavy...You need to work out.

UTILIZATION

Easy setup, the EQ controls are very effective and, it seems to me, that they interact with each other (like some Mesa, if I understand correctly).

SOUNDS

Clean channel: very Fender, a good sound always, pretty flattering, very rich, with lots of deep lows and crystalline highs.
Drive channel: Drier sound, not many lows, good crunch, but it distorts very quickly, the middle setting affects a lot the output level. A sound that stands out easily in a mix.
I think there's a lot of imbalance between both channels.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it after reading very positive reviews, and resold it after only two months:
A good amp, sturdy but (in my opinion): annoying imbalance between both channels, and the sound is not vintage enough.
And don't forget the weight! It's a real hell when your rehearse in an upper floor without elevator!

The Fender Super 60 is an all-tube 12'' speaker amplifier, manufactured in the US "Rivera" era of Fender amps, which means the early 90s and also sporting their fiery red knobs. 2 ax7 Pre-amp tubes, 26L6GC post tubes. Rivera went on to form his own amplifier company, but the one's he designed for Fender are well known. This amp is a hybrid, sort of a more powerful Blues amp, with two channels of tone, one clean and one driven. The clean tone boasts a bass, mid and treble setting; the drive channel has volume and tone. Both channels have a sweet dial reverb and a dial presence knob. The pedals I've found for it pass the signal back and forth between channels only; the reverb has to be dialed in. This is a fundamental weakness in the design of the reverb, as it sounds really lush and full (and sensitive; 3 is like 'church-room' reverb) but you can't cut it off for a solo or something. It has 1/4'' ins on the front and the usual direct outs and effect loop 1/4''s on the back. It has the solid grey grille with one 12'' speaker, red knobs and the "Super 60" in cool cursive. Oh by the way the thing weighs in at a hefty 55 pounds, so do what I haven't and invest in an anvil road case.

UTILIZATION

The set up is as easy as any combo, plug in and you're ready. You can fool with the split effects patch in the back but I just use my pedal board in the line. I've been using this as my stage amp for all of 2007 and 2008 and at any coffee-house or bar level this amplifier it's sufficient. The two channels have a shared eq which can be limiting. I've been able to stay on the clean channel all night, using volume + tube drive pedal to get a kind of rich bluesy distortion, however if you do use the overdrive channel, be prepared for bone-crushing volume and distortion. It's almost unheard of to use 60 watts into one speaker nowadays. I just tapped the knobs on the O/D channel and ran my guitar through an '81 MXR Distortion+ and a mild setting on an Ibanez Tube Screamer and came out with the most amazing "Sabbath" meets "Deep Purple" tone, it split my drummer's face! However, all is never perfect in using a vintage amp like this...read on.

SOUNDS

The bottom and top of the amplifier are relatively thin, meaning the bassy tone and the trebly. The fender speaker has a slight muddy feel at high volumes in general and this amp is no exception. The treble can take more before it 'thins out' and starts to sound cheap. The amp is extremely versatile. It can play picky country twang (try a Tele with a good chorus pedal), clean channel on 5 and crank the presence. It can handle heavy metal (try a Les Paul with bridge pickup and a tube screamer), distortion channel on 3 and that's enough for most bars in your town. It can even handle midrangey jazz; the "Fender" tone is really excellent on this amp, it can often sound like some of their best lines, but requires a lot of adjustment to make really clear. I've found that by 1) killing the bass volume, 2) cranking the tone and 3) chiefing the mids around here and there you can cut through everything from horns to loud drums. But like I said, I found myself wanting when I finally got her to a festival stage. The open air swallowed up my tone and I found myself raising the volume to the point where my pedals became muddy. If you use it outside make sure it's miked AND/or the sound man knows what he/she is doing.

OVERALL OPINION

For the money you will pay in finding and buying one, it can't be beat. The amount of power in the little amp will not disappoint. Most money today will get you much less power. The amp can be used with other cabinets from the outputs in the back, it can handle massive amounts of drive; it may be worth upgrading the speaker to Celestion or newer Fender perhaps; and while it may not be the first choice for super loud or heavy heavy groups, it is an absolute workhorse for the loudest of blues, funk, reggae, rock and jazz. Its most interesting feature is how 'modern' the distortion still sounds today.
