« The Ecstasy her miniature »
Published on 07/25/12 at 23:09The lableue is available in an amp head or combo. This is a tube model, based on the circuit one of the peaks of world output amp: the blue channel of the Bogner has three 12AX7 preamp Ecstasy.Le and power uses an EL34 or 6L6 at choice. So this is a true class A. It is single channel and has the following settings:
-Gain
Low-
Medium-
-Acute
Volume-
Switch-loud / quiet
Switch-vintage / modern
It has an effects loop and two outputs hp: an 8 and 16 ohms.
The amp weighs just 10 kg, a delight to move. He ascended into point by point with a beautiful finish. All kinds of options are possible, to do with the designer.
UTILIZATION
It's a simple amp, so it is difficult to solve it is that is not made for music, but for football.
All settings are useful and effective.
SOUNDS
The sound is close to the blue channel of Ecstasy, hence the name. For those who do not have the happiness to know this amp is a Marshall on steroids with a lot of gain more wealth and warmth and a lot of class. The attack is soft. We thus find that kind of sound on the lableue, but designed a little brighter. According to the (sympathetic) manufacturer, it can be even closer with Tung Sol. Were generally three types of sound:
-With the gain at 2-3, we get a beautiful clean sound, somewhat in the spirit of the Bogner Plexi mode. It's round, warm, flashy, a little compressed, great for blues or jazz. This is far from its 7ender. I love, with a little echo in the loop.
-Pushing the gain, you get nice crunch. The amp responds very well to guitar playing, in the attack on his right hand. It's hot, but marshallisant with little more to Bogner. Ideal for rock or blues.
-With the gain in the corner, we can make the metal, the old (with a beautiful sound thus medium).
The switch quiet / loud enable dropping consistently sound and the amp sounds very convincingly even at very low volume. The switch vintage / modern plays on the gain and the presence in the treble and high mids. This is especially interesting in pushing the gain, there is the issue "liquid" in the red channel of XTC. Harmonics fuse so carefree. The loop performs its function very well and this is a real plus on a small amp of this type. We must emphasize the amp accepts pedals with success, both in front and in the loop.
OVERALL OPINION
I love the Bogner XTC, but 26 kg is not fun to move, even if it sounds good in all circumstances. I was looking for an amp lightweight, compact, without making too many compromises sound. The Orange Tiny Terror is in this genre, but it has no effects loop, the sound is fuzz with the gain block and less rich, less loaded with bass than Ecstasy. Moreover he does not like the pedals. That's why lableue suits me. An amp is not seen anywhere, point by point, that sounds good with an effects loop, which goes from light to heavy distortion, what more?
