2xEL84 tube amp in class A = 12 Watts.
Wired point-to-point (map Tourret)
Single-channel amp with 2 inputs of different sensitivity.
Adjustable line output.
Output HP: 1x16ohm or 2x8ohm
No effects loops, no footswitch (one channel!)
A power setting of the amp (which serves as the master volume)
The knobs settings in order are:
Mid Cut / Emphasis | Treble Volume | Volume Bass | Power Dampening |
UTILIZATION
There is no manual ...
But it is very easy and intuitive to set this amp to make sound fabulous ..!
It should already understand that the Coyote has no stage eq strictly speaking.
Internally, there are two channels that have their own "voicing" a more acute and the other more serious.
We get the sound you're looking at combining these two channels via the dedicated volume knobs.
For simplicity, let say that the channel Treble adjusts the sharpness or brightness of sound, and channel bass, the neck & @ $ es ...
It feels a bit like the opportunities that are obtained by bridging the inputs of an old Fender Bassman or an old Marshall.
From there, it is rather easy touver the basic sound that is sought.
Of course, this does not mean that this amp is simplistic, quite the contrary, there is really full of subtleties that are discovered as a measure of exploration!
The switch Mid Cut / Emphasis acts only on the channel Treble. It can not dig or mediums and we alternate between a more coarsely Vox or Fender sound more.
Note that the input corresponds Low High sensitivity of a traditional amplifier. While the High is entered is at least 2x more sensitive, which can be very handy for inflating a stratum or to achieve very high loadings.
Power Dampening adjustment is used to adjust the power amp.
I have no technical data, but I guess this is done via the plate voltage lamps powers.
The idea is interesting, but the result is not miraculous.
Reducing power, his stiffened a little.
However, it is possible to obtain satisfactory results with a boost (clear if possible).
But again, no miracles: past a certain level, you lose the element of sound that comes from the speaker pushed hard ...
No need to hope for a big sound of low volume ...
SOUNDS
This amp is deceptively simple!
It is indeed quick and easy to sculpt the sound, but this amp is far more versatile than it seems!
The clean sounds are very interesting.
We can get good sound type crystalline Vox but also sounds more Fenderien quite easily.
12W, clean sound, it's very hard to play in the apartment ... but with a drummer who hits it right.
In this case, it will take the amp with a microphone or via line output.
But it is in overdrive (overdrive and distortion) that this amp be fit amazing!
Let say that you get all the qualities of a Marshall 100W pushed a block has a volume bcp bcp more manageable.
(Do not dream, too hard to bcp the apartment anyway ...)
But by repeating or club, what a foot!
We can get a sound very fluid, with no natural compression effects pedal.
We can still use pedals to get this behavior more quickly and thus closer to the clear sounds in terms of volume.
The workmanship and quality of components is first rate.
The sound quality ... too!
I still have not managed to find a bad sound with this head.
Whether with a 1x12 or 4x12 open closed, the slap has all the shots ...
OVERALL OPINION
I've had it a month.
I have several other types of amp (combo) of equivalent quality, but this is my first head amp.
I love the Coyote, the sounds are beautiful and easy to adjust.
The amp is very versatile though.
I've never had / tried to amp that allows her to have a Marshall 100W has all the blocks without exploding eardrums has a 5km radius.
(Not worth attempting a comparison with the Tiny Terror amp types / Night Train / etc. .., it is not at all in the same range ..)
From this point of view, the coyote is a treat.
The price may seem relatively high for a single channel 12W head, but if one considers its sound quality and workmanship, value for money is unbeatable.
Considering all this, I will ever be the same choice without hesitation, the Coyote immediately became an indispensable weapon in my arsenal!
