Remember, my setup is a PC rcent purchased specifically for (re) Get You Started computer music: Pentium Dual Core 3.33, 4GB SDRAM with Windows 7 64 bit.

USE

Audio engistrements few of my saxophone are of good quality, CAN converters hold water; one expects no less than TASCAM. However not test the Pramp '(sorry!) Because my microphone AKG dj food. Is it the same that quipent 1641 ??
The pots of rglage source are not too cheap; you can really use it.

Finally, ct practice, a few minor complaints:
Mandatory power sector
No of Hi-Z
No direct monitoring button "Zr latency"
Phantom Power that command to all entries.

Everything would not be too serious - for the price - if the beast deigned work. Starting with the fact that Windows does not recognize the boot, so you have the dye and again (no ON / OFF button, so let's have fun with the power supply wire 'my friends!). But the use, sudden message "USB device No. Recognize" are not uncommon, and try to reconfigure the road being something seriously harms the health of Win7! And your musical creations also ...


IMPLEMENTATION

Installation is quick and is done without problem.

The document "Important Notes" and under "Known Issues" (known problems) make you smart ear not Get You Started with a jack branch not send MIDI signals while launching Cubase, do not touch the USB cable ... the pig is sensitive. The moral of this story is that the teams of development TASCAM are surely focused on trsrpandues machinery (US 1641 ...) c .... the few believing in the US 800 will wait to obtain a stable driver!

Not me anyway, because the machine is already back the sender!

Nothing more to add than what others have already. Except that mine has a fault .... it is not recognized by Windobe and I have every time I want to use, turn off the device, ie pull the plug and reconnect.
Use standard by means of a mixing desk.

GETTING STARTED

Very bad as I mentioned above. I had a bad fall on No.. but hey it's made in China -> quality is not at the rendezvous. In addition, the installation software has created problems with the OS to crash the PC, just by being connected.

OVERALL OPINION

I tried several times to make it work, but there are prob soft misrecognized + crash + the fact that we should disconnect / reconnect the power supply whenever I want to use.
I contacted support. I think there must be an error mounting / connection.

As everything is supposed to work for the user lambda I put this bad note.

Therefore decided c, I change creamery. 4 used short time. I expect a new card to replace my Focusrite old Terratec Phase 24 agonizing

Used OS Windows 8 Pro -> did not install the 2 weeks.

The Tascam US-800 is a great-sounding multichannel recording interface, with eight inputs and six outputs for capturing audio data. Six XLR microphone inputs each have phantom power for using with condenser microphones, and premium 96kHz/24-bit audio converters record every detail. The US-800 includes S/PDIF digital audio in and out as well as MIDI in and out, which is incredibly useful with synthesizer work. The rugged, lightweight package is ideal for mobile or desktop recording, and it really is surprisingly light and portable.

UTILIZATION

The Tascam US-800 can be used with both Mac systems and PC systems, although there can be some driver troubles with Windows 7, particularly with a 64-bit system. I did get it to work on my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop, but during some initialization, my computer would restart (after seeing a blue screen), which can be very disturbing. But Tascam may have ironed out the drivers by now (my unit was 6 months old). It is odd, because I've owned older Tascam audio interfaces that work great with Windows 7, yet the newer US-800 has it's flaws. So your mileage may vary, be sure to test out the unit first on your system, or read about compatibility on forums.

GETTING STARTED

Generally, the Tascam US-800 is fairly easy to set up. Just plug in the usb cable, plug in the power supply, and you are good to go. The knobs and controls on the unit are pretty self-explanatory, and there is a mini software mixer that comes with the drivers. You can actually use the US-800 as a realtime mixer, without recording anything. There are actually two headphone inputs on the front for both 1/8 inch and 1/4 inch connectors, which is interesting. They both are the same port, and usually I would just use a simple adapter for my 1/8 inch headphones, but I'm not complaining.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, the Tascam US-800 is a great, portable recording unit, with MIDI inputs and outputs to boot. Great for portable laptop systems, when you need to record more than a couple channels!

Tascam continues its pattern of making cheap interfaces for budget beginner studio operators, users and musicians. Since the world of music now exists inside of a computer, you can get so much with a cheap interface nowadays that spending a lot on quality equipment is honestly just about nuance. In the end though, I am in no way shape or form decrying the worth of the amazing Tascam US 800. This interface is rather incredible because for almost nothing, you get a whopping 8 inputs and 6 outputs in such a small amount of space. You also get Midi and digital inputs and outputs. You also get ridiculously premium converters at 96 k and 24 bit bit depth allowing for 144 dB of headroom. This allows the user to not have to worry at all about compression or limiting and peaking. Because the noise floor is so low.

UTILIZATION

Although the casing is not the most sturdy looking thing in the world, the thing still somehow screams quality. It must be the knobs, or the simple design of the thing, but the US 800 definitely makes a good first impression, and does not feel cheap by any means. Now, the latency is pretty much a non issue here, and you can record all tracks at once without any problems. My only gripe is the mass phantom power switch. You do not get a choice in which things to turn on or off, so be careful if you end up with certain microphones.

It is easy to get started with the US 800. Just like any other interface, the drivers come with it. Install, and they are good to go. It does not come with any special features worth mentioning in the way of anything, so talking about setup seems silly to me.

I like the US 800. I always say cough up a bit more for the 1800, but for what it is the 800 is a great choice for anyone looking to get started.
