Blue Microphones Spark Digital

The Blue Spark Digital is truly a plug and play interface. No fiddling with configurations, settings. Plug it in and choose it for the input device. The recording is a bit on the brittle, thin side. The volume on this was extremely low. Had to turn everything all the way up. Still, the sound was still pretty good. I think that you would really hear the thin/tinnie sound build up after recording a few multiple tracks. I couldn't get much depth to the sound and multi-tracking tended to emphasize the brittle(?) sound.
For a single recording it did a very good job of capturing the guitar and vocals. I could see this mic would be of benefit for voice over, DJ, or pod-casting because of the ease of setup with the sound quality and the portability.

The Blue Microphones Spark Digital will work with both Mac computers and PC computers. It has a great frequency response that you can appreciate no matter what style of music you create. This is the newest microphone from Blue Microphones and like most of the other microphones that they make, this one is great and well worth the purchase. I have not had this microphone more than a few days but one of the main things that I have done with it so far is use it with my iPad. Since I have my iPad with me at all times now, it is great that I can get a great microphone that will work with it so I can record on the go. I have tried to use other USB microphones with my iPad and they work great, but the sound they give is another story, which is what led me to try the Spark Digital since I currently own other Blue Microphones for my home set up.

OVERALL OPINION

Using this microphone is very easy, all you will need to do is plug it in just like you would any USB compatible device. I am normally not a fan of USB microphones because in the past I was not able to find one that was great for voice and for acoustic guitar. This microphone really does it all and because I am a vocalist and acoustic guitar player this microphone fits me perfectly. The sound quality is top of the line and sounds like you are recording in a full studio.
There are controls on the Spark Digital, it gives you gain control and zero latency monitoring through your headphones. I have yet to find a great condenser microphone that is USB and small/portable though. I did think this microphone was going to be a little more portable/small. It is ok and I can work around it but it would have been nice if it could have been smaller. It does come with a desktop stand so you do not have to hold it. Overall it is a great mic at a great price.
