MXL USB.006

OVERALL OPINION

I have been 15 days, and also produces a special, it's crazy the number of services that makes me. I have owned in the past a static micro-behringer b2 pro, a mixing desk and a Tapco blend6 MIC100 preamp behringer. Sure, the three products I just mentioned offer better sound performance. But the implementation is unbeatable on the MXL USB.006: we connect the USB to the computer, it saves the software (Audacity, SoundForge, Cubase, Logic etc), and it is in the box. In fact I use the MXL very often because it's fast, convenient, efficient and portable (a nice cover is provided).

Question sensitivity and loyalty, I find it all at entry-level static, so enough for a model from speech to singing, to the registration of any type of sound effects. I like its sound characteristics for voice, frequency response is compelling. It produces a slight background noise depending on its location relative to the computer, in fact it is mostly a USB cable which I think is poorly shielded. Trying several positions of the cable can be reduced or eliminated the background noise.

For 100 euros, it is a very practical solution for the person who is not already equipped with mixing desk / preamp with phantom power, and using only their computer. Its table-top tripod is perfectly studied, no need for a microphone stand. As a composer / sound designer, I love it and I use it very often, instead of a solution "home studio" more complex (micro preamp + + table) that made things less spontaneous.
