If you are a huge fan of the Yamaha DX7, you can have a look at the emulation developed by two little geniuses for Mac, PC and Linux.

Dexed was initially developed by Raph Levien for Android and the project was then reworked by Pascal Gauthier, aka Digital Surburban, aka asb2m10, who designed an open source multi-platform version via JUCE and GPL 2 licence.

The virtual instrument has not reached v1 yet (currently in v0.6.1 released last mont), but their work deserves a free download.

Dexed features more than 100 settings of the DX7 FM synth, all being automatable and you can also use your DX7 for the plug-in supports Sysex messages on both input and output for patch editing.

Each operator includes a VU-meter so you quickly know which one is enabled.

You can download Dexed now at github.com/asb2m10/dexed.
