News Native Instruments Session Strings

Native Instruments introduced Session Strings, a virtual string ensemble for Kontakt 4 and the free Kontakt Player, providing acoustic string sounds for pop, soul, R&B, disco, house and other music styles.

Session Strings is designed to recreate a string ensemble comprising four violins, three violas, two celli and two double basses. All recordings were taken from instruments from the 18th and 19th century, played by musicians from European orchestras.

The individual instrument groups are mapped across the keyboard, with intelligent legato and glissando based on dedicated samples. Controllable falls, swoops and crescendo variations are designed to allow producers to create dynamic string licks.

The “Animator” function can be engaged during play to transform incoming notes into staccato, spiccato and pizzicato chords and
arpeggios, with the timing and groove adjustable by the user, and while maintaining natural legato articulation at the same time. An
integrated convolution reverb also provides a variety of room ambiences.

Session Strings also provides a set of optional “Motown versions” for all included sounds, utilizing a sonic treatment designed to recreate the vintage string sound of the soul recordings from the 60s and 70s.

Session Strings is available for download purchase in the NI Online Shop for $119 / 99 EUR.
