I bought these mics without too many references, vendor on board. They do a great job, my criticisms are mostly hardware: cables too thin to be reliable, fragile bindings ...
I have not tried the C 516, came to replace the 416. A € 150 I have seen anything credible yet. So I leave her a note.
But if I rewrote today an investment "pair of pliers microphones," I will direct a priori rather to the Shure Beta 98, very versatile, and most of its engineers know better.
Or ATM 350. Or more, DPA 4099U.
