Acquired at Guitar Center in Danvers MA for my birthday. Paid $70.00 plus tax. It seemed to be a top seller there and had the most bang for the buck. Internet reviews seemed good as well.

My favorite thing about this pedal is that, for the price of one good effects pedal, you get a whole series of them, plus eleven high quality sounding amplifier sims. The features are very easy to use and are logically laid out. This pedal literally contains everything I have ever wanted as an amateur musician looking to develop my own unique sound but also wanting to emulate some of the great ones. An added bonus is a website where one can download a replacement manual if one loses the original, and one can also exchange "patches" or programmed sequences with other owners over the net. Despite the plastic, lightweight look and feel, it is a pretty sturdy machine. One can plug in an expression pedal. The output can be either stereo or monaural. You can either use your existing amp or run the pedal into headphones or anything that takes an input.

I only dislike a few things, and these are not too important to me as I do not use them much. One is, in my opinion, a poor copy of a wah wah effect. You need an expression pedal to use wah and whammy effects and, when I bought one, I didn't like using it. So I returned the expression pedal and am happy without it. Batteries are very hard to fit in and they do not last very long at all. Probably my biggest complaint is that,when using several effects at once, particularly compression and chorus, the pedal makes a noisy hum and hiss which the noise gate effect does not do well to cancel out. Other users have also complained of this as well as occasional pops, which I also experience when running it through a PA system. Despite these drawbacks, this pedal produces a huge variety of quality sounds and effects which, at the price, is an amazing value. Finally, I personally wish the amplifier emulation could produce a tone that would resemble that used by Cream (a warm tone with a high-frequency distortion, hard to describe, trademark to listen to). You can't do everything with this pedal, but at $70, how could you expect to?

Construction seems okay, but not superb. It is, after all, plastic. A metal case probably would last longer, and heavier weight would help stabilize the unit on a stage. Despite this, the unit seems like it will last a long time and not wear out. Plug connections are solid. Layout is fantastic.

Bottom line: the most bang for the buck. You are getting your money's worth. You can't do everything with this pedal, but it does more and sounds better than anything else at this price range. If you want more effects and programmability, go for a higher model of Digitech's (100, 200, 300, etc.). If you want ease of use with what you need for getting started, this is the pedal for you. It is also nice to have a website with a patch sharing community and discussion forums.

I acquired this unit at Monster music,
I paid $74.95 for the processor.

I like some of the factory preset, but
would like to program my own settings.
HELP HELP HELP.

The Digitech users guide is a little
overwhelming to set the sounds I like.
Is there a website that can help me,or a step by step dvd?


The Quality of the unit is great,from years
passed,from my old BOSS delay box the construction is very effective.

Again my final comments are, that for us old
timers from back in the late 1965.The user
guide is not very understandable.

Acquired Unit at Local Music store... Basically looking for a headphone practice amp device..Paid 120.00 Canadian

Previous, I had purchased and returned both the Zoom 505II and 606. I found that these products had tones of effects but basically seem to be TONE killers… I figured I just wasn’t’ going to be please with such inexpensive units… Well the RP 50 has changed my view on that, I was immediately impressed with the preset effects and the great tone associated with these effects, you see I have been spoiled with tube amps and classic Fender Strat’s.. As an added bonus it has a built in drum patterns , great for honing your time if you don’t regular Jam…

I wish more of the effects could be control by an add-on expression pedal.. For example the panning effect, it would be great top be able to pan left and right via the expression pedal... Hard to get the batteries in the unit, feels like you are going to break something, but hey I'm nit picking..

Not as study as the Individual Boss Pedals I own, but then again it has multiple effects ands cost about the same as one single Boss stomp box...

Great Value for the money, great tone, multiple effects, tuner and drum patterns for a very reasonable price.. Highly recommended

I bought this unit (actually, two of them) online from Musician's Friend as soon as they came out. They were $69.99 each, and we added a bass amp and stand to get the free shipping, which made it even better. Since I'm a tone freak and have actually been looking at tube amps, this gets the job done for 1/10 the price, and adds the other features too.

It's all about the features and the sounds. In addition to the usual Delays and Reverbs, it has better sounds than my Zoom 505 due to the Amp Modeling - which actually does work. Nice Brit Stack, Combo, Tube -clean, crunch, and hi-gain, Fender Blackface, Tweed, everything. It even has that tube-like crunch on chords. If I didn't know better, I would think I was playing a vintage Fender Twin tube amp from the 70s.
One feature that is a huge improvement, the EQ has a separate Bass, Mid and Treble setting, just like an amp.
It also has a Pickup Modeling feature, which goes from Single to Humbucking Mode and Humbucking to Single Mode. This is a cool feature, and you can use it even if you already have Hummers or Singles, for a butter-smooth variation. I've been playing a Cort with stock bottom-line EMG S-S-H pickups, normally a plain-vanilla sound, through a Peavey practice amp. With this unit the sound is thrilling - killer clean and dirty Hendrix/SRV sounds. I even programmed some clean, almost clean, and reverb/tremelo surf sounds (think James Bond-007). I could never get these straight from the clean channel, but they are very usable here. Also great for playing slide.
It also has a built in drum machine so you don't need a metronome anymore - or you can play up to 30 different rhythms for song practice. Suddenly playing Surf tunes is fun, and you can play progressions and jam like with a band.
The Chromatic Tuner - which I rely on - is easily the best I have used.


The plastic enclosure looks pretty fragile. I would be afraid to drop it from waist high, or have something heavy fall on it.

As stated, the plastic housing may not be very sturdy, but the switches, pedals, and read-outs are first rate, not cheap at all. One other thing the unit is very compact, which I like. It's not much bigger than a stompbox, but does the work of about 10 of them.
I use a Wal-wart adaptor - no special one required.

This is a great processor. You could play a gig with one guitar and amp and get any sound.
The second unit was for a friend that is learning to play. I talked him into getting the unit to spice up his practice rig. He read the manual and found the unit very easy to use, and now won't play without it. He keeps bragging about the sound and features, and what a great deal it was.

OVERALL OPINION

C simple. Now I use it on my fifteen watts pedals for work in my room ... L c perfect. It's been ptt expensive to the extent I use two or three presets max, but hey, at least as a, g the mtronome, tuner, a scraper, and I work scales, solos, my rhythm, and I'll try to record any a. So I'm dj recording (only a dmo) coming out of the pedals live ... c useless for society ... It blows over but then as its digital c, lifeless. C sawtooth worth nothing if you know what I mean.
So to use that I do now, c nickel.
Possibly can be for beginners guitarist, who is no amplification of the big stuff (style to let's say 100 watts transistor) which acts as a group and not forcment of Yngwie Malmsteen. It allows for moultes distos and weird sounds from under the feet without breaking the bank too much too. And can work alone and agree (based j'tais happy to have a tuner Intgr) pis the scope of the expression pedals for a little as a brothel , even when c INTERESTED enough.

UTILIZATION

SOUND QUALITY

So the critical point is the apparemmen .. as well not me I was going I am not at all.
I chose this "multi-purpose" pouir use it on a trip and so it suits me perfectly this level from the noise level is a bit too low.
On my amp (Valvestate 8080) I use a set of pedals couraging by me, but I tried and it's not bad, I do not just love me say that the quality transcand but it's a nice little hardware for first-time effects.

I would say that the report is very well qualitprix .. I must say that I pay only 60 so that price I expect no better.

OVERALL OPINION

OK OK OK for the price it's pretty good but I think if you want a good big sound palette, Avoid The series of RP.

UTILIZATION

I advice to beginners wanting to learn music at home with a sound quite similar to the great artists.
