Bin me I needed something small and not too chr. I just used men to record composed in my room.
My pc is a packard bell easy note (256MB RAM).
Its works great on this pc, no problem.
What is interresting on the card so it is its simplicity with three buttons rglages faade (inpunt mic, mix and output) are switched easily between the two inputs (XLR or line) by pressing a button at the back, even one passes easily from a mono sound has stro by pressing the button faade.

UTILIZATION

No problem to install, no incompatibility is just a click on "next" and is all alone.
CONTRL panel of the card via the pc is very simple you can increase or rduire the number of buffers and we can choose the quality (8bit, 16bit or 24bit).
No need to march his hand alone.

Bin as I said prcedemment trs is simple, not many buttons just right.
The drivers are great, I had no bug yet.
I use for recording and mixing protools cubase SE or M-Powered and wavelab for mastering.
Latency level is so low that it is inaudible.

Any crash reported after six months of intensive use. I don't need the updated drivers. I use REAPER as my multitrack software on a Acer 1360 laptop with 512MB of memory. FastTrack is transparent, the latency is non-existent. I have not yet reached the limits of the number of simultaneous tracks.

Six months of satisfaction, thus, but I plug the guitar via the microphone input with an XLR / Jack  input adapter, because the guitar input is unusable as the level is too low! I also have an E-MU0404 on my desktop PC that does not give better results in my opinion ... Super price / quality ratio for FastTrack, which perfectly fits with my portable use. Just one downside to the guitar input (but I only record a track at a time anyway, so it's not a problem ... finally)

I was looking for a way to register on my pc (I use Audacity), voice and guitar simultaneously.
Rsultat: it's perfect for a neophyte to someone (like me) who just wants the aprhender mao without a lot of rglages incomprhensible do. The fact that there is no pre-amp does not impede me, my guitar with a dj ... I use a microphone (XLR) and my guitar at the same time. The only worry I have found is that one has a stro flow in between but not out (under dj possder with a sound card to between a stro). But this is trs enjoyable to use, the sound was smooth, I 've found no latency because I use headphones when recording, not monitoring via the pc.
Basically a big rev 10/10.

PC: Q6600 CPU, 2 GB Ram, SATA 500 GB HDD, integrated RealTek sound card on a GigaByte motherboard.

Instrument: Electric guitar directly connected to the Fastrack, guitar amp with effects section and line output directly connected to the Fastrack.

UTILIZATION

Installation under VISTA 32 bit: I downloaded the drivers from M-Audio's website (version 5.10.0.5114), installed them and connected the FastTrack to the PC. It went smoothly.

Notice: I hadn't installed any other Fastrack drivers before.

If you did that Windows might use the old drivers instead of the new. To solve the problem, check the current driver version in the Windows device manager and click the update button in case it is necessary to change them. Then select manually the latest driver version.

The drivers also add a small program that runs automatically as soon as you start Windows. Double-click on the icon next to the system clock to adjust the buffer size (latency, from 128 to 1096 samples) and the sample rate (44.1 or 48 kHz).

I find the user's manual (12 pages) is comprehensive enough.

GETTING STARTED

The sound card comes with the M-Audio Session software. Download version 1.6.3 from M-Audio's website for the software to work under Windows Vista (otherwise you'll get a system error message).

I've had no problems up to this day (six months of use). I use this sound card in my home studio and as PC sound card.
