This is what I consider to be a middle of the road gain distortion. It is an all analog pedal that employes a tube in the pre-amp section and and analog cab simulator before the output. It has one quarter inch in and one quarter inch out and must be powered by a 9 volt AC adapter, there is no battery option. The controls are simply laid out as level, high, low, and gain. The controls offer a afir deal of interaction so various tones are achievable.

UTILIZATION

I do not know if the manual was every even made for the unit as my package only contained a card stating the power requirements. The unit is very self explanitory so there was no real need for any additional information but it is always nice to get some literature with a purchace. This unit is very easy to set up and use as long as you are working in its sweet spot. I find that this pedal works more along the lines of a pre-amp than a distortion but is useable in front of a clean channel or into the return of an effects loop. Once you become familiar with the output capabilities of the unit it is fairly simple to dial in a good sound. It actually is harder to mess up your tone than to achieve one of many good tones this pedal can produce.

SOUND QUALITY

This unit is primaraly designed for use with guitar but it can offer a warm characteristic to a bass as well because of its easy going gain structure. If you are looking for a warm smooth gain structure this pedal will be right up your alley. It ranges from a warm clean all the way up to a straight Marshall 800 amount of gain but without as much roar. The pedal is generally quiet when engaged and has a minimal amout of noise even when the gain is maxed. Personally I enjoy this pedal when I play older classic rock in the Pink Floyd genre. I find it much more useful then other overdrive and distorion pedal to add that warm sustain where the gain seems to be almost clean in nature.

OVERALL OPINION

While this pedal sees limited use by me I would also consider it a valuable addition to my rig. I own many pre amps, distortions, and overdrives that all have a nice use but this one dominates inits area of low to mid gain smoothness. I really enjoy its ease of use because it really is difficult to screw up its sound. The only down side I have about this pedal is the fact that it only has the emulated output. A switch or a second output would have made a lot of sense but since it does sound good I guess it's just a curiosity of mine. For the price I am very happy with the value of it. If I paid the original price I might not have taken the chance on it but I would replace it now that I am familiar with its usefulness in my setup. I am always adding gear in and out of my system so small purchaces like this usually do not get too many side by side comparisons. This also had to be ordered sight unseen trusting sound clips that we all know to well can be deceiving at times. Bottom line is if you like or need a low gain, warm natured distortion try and pick one up for yourself.

- Solid case, I have not tried to run against a wall or let go of the fifth, but seems to be really tough, built for last .. (better, with a lamp intgre. ..)

UTILIZATION

Not too many knobs, so config could not be more simple, no manual in the box elsewhere, unless that piece of paper while Russia is not a guaranteed ??...

I give more details below, but I think the pedals is especially good for "booster" and "Global Warming" your gear is less with the lamp ... even if you stay away from any real amp lamp.

Connects between the guitar and the amp or the effects loop of my pdalier, it fills that role perfectly for me. I can not tell you if the bypass is a True Bypass, but I did not not change its rsidu or other sound when the pedals is disabled. The switch also seems sturdy as mentioned above for all of the pedals, the production seems to be of good quality and there is no "plop" when the switch is engaged.

SOUND QUALITY

I tried to find a grain close to saturation has a large lamp, while remaining versatile, my musical tastes from heavy rock / metal of the 70s to modern low-tunning like Slipknot ...

My first impression was immediately clear that this does PDAL behaves better as "an addition" to other stuff:

I plugged into a crappy little transistor combo I have at home, by combining the crunch of the amp with distortion pedals of a lamp, and changes everything! a is not the Marshall all-tube that I had for years in France, much less the friend of my Mesa Dual or any other all-tube amp (do not expect a miracle!), but a good alternative when you have a limited budget and you want to add a grain to the best of his amp distortion ...

Then I plugged into the loop of my GT8, and tried different configs before / after the simulation of pramp, cutting the pramp, by combining a distortion of the other GT8 .. . my conclusion (for now) is that by using a simulation with a gain of pramp the limit of the crunch, the Tube Platinum boosts a wonderful sound, and I found one closer to the natural grain which j'tait regulars on an all-tube amp (even if a is not yet clear "as true." The Tube Platinum color adds a crunch and a gain in the simulation of pramp, which gives me this grain research ...
A good thing to add to a GT8 or other pdalier So, for those who are not fully satisfied with distos it offers.

Another thing I noticed that the sound Bonnifait after a while of use, probably for as long as the lamp heats like on a real tube amp ...

on the other hand, AMT pedals that boasts a "speaker simulator" which allows the Intgr plug directly into a mixer or sound card ... well frankly, even if the sound is in indeed not "fuzzy" and one feels a certain "nettetquot, thanks to this simulation, I think that is the minimum equalizer to add a direct, or at best a pdalier as explained above, because rglages treble / bass seem too lightweight for tural nuances (again, I regret the lack of rglage the Middle), and I think this behaves the pedals best when used as a "boost" rather than alone ...

OVERALL OPINION

DEFINITIONS In, I think this is a good grain PDAL warm prcis (on my stuff anyway), not messy or "mcanique" like other pedals, the rglage gain saturation ranging from a lightweight has a big sound, all remaining still quite typical modern if you want a much more "vintage" may be it is better to move towards other vox pedals like a lamp ...

It seems to me really prfrable use with the crunch / overdrive the amp for a big sound and give the characteristic color of the lamp, I do not think the pedals are enough to itself ... However, by adjusting the saturation of the amp / pedal and that of the pedals, I could get a lot of DIFFERENT sounds quite warm and Satus corresponding to what I was looking for. ..

Moral: I do not regret my purchase, even if a more prolonged and in different situations will give me wrong or right, but at first view, this corresponds to my expectations pedals and "boost" my stuff just as I had imagined ...

UTILIZATION

There's no longer as easy to use pedal. knob the level of low, high and of knob of distortion.
The knob MEET really are accurate, it has the ability to edit many different sound.

SOUND QUALITY

Let's go into the subject's life. Thanks to its lamp, pedal gives you a non-negligible heat. Plugged into my Fender 212R transistor, it's really terrible. This is also I think his ultimate goal (a transistor amp warm up) and it does its job. I use it with a mustang with DiMarzio tonezone s bridge. And when you plug it all is the big slap. By ignoring one would really be plugged into a good big head lamps. The minutes of the warm, precise, delicious. It's really a very good pedal. I'm a fan of nirvana. And to be honest, this distortion pedal with a fender mustang + background, it's live and loud all over gain. I think it is appropriate for any type of sound from pop rock to the hardcore, grunge, punk rock, heavy ... But be careful I not recommended for the hardcore stuff like heavy metal or something. For everything else against this pedal is great.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two weeks, and Jaime really all or most of this pedal. Only small inconvenian for me knob may be a sensitive chouilla tro.
But otherwise everything is nickel. We really know or are spending our € 190.
