UTILIZATION

If you need the manual, stop the music ... I just regret (like every owner of this pedal) the boost is not accessible by foot. Without that it was 10/10.

SOUND QUALITY

I remember how much I paid (it was Franks at the time) but it is almost two times less than the legends (like Tube Screamer) and other shops pedals for IRREPROACHABLE quality! Solid, transparent, not a breath and sound palette is huge! Without the boost, it goes from light to the Tube Screamer sound, it turns with my single coils in double and gain background, we approach a Fuzz very clean. The only downside is that the tone is almost useless, it is impossible for me with my Gretsch truly make her scream acute (except on stage tube amp background and too low the sound is not great so it remains fully or almost fully ...

OVERALL OPINION

As I already mentioned in another review, I am 35 years old, son of a musician, almost 20 years on stage and I worked in the store so I tried almost everything. So I can say is my favorite overdrive, I use it to boost my clear, cruncher for my amp (I put RCA 12AT7 60s much less powerful than 12AX7) and sounds when my Fuzz Fuzz is too powerful. Who by choice minimalist pedalboard (3 pedals), this is my most faithful ally to have a varied range of sounds. I almost paid me one second in case she let me go.
PS: In 2000 (approximately), the direction of T-Rex Engineering and their logo has changed, I do not know if the quality and manufacturing processes as ...

SOUND QUALITY

It's an OD.
Guitar amp lamp.
I put it on APRS Wriggle (tremolo) and before the end of the reverb Fender HotRod Deville and I have the sound of Dick Dhale (Miserillou (or Pulp Fiction soundtrack)).

OVERALL OPINION

Pure vintage sound, simple effective. Overdrive 60-70's terrible for a well Rock'n'surf.
3 pottards effective and resilient

Knobs for volume, gain, tone, mini-boost switch and a switch very solid.

UTILIZATION

What impressed me immediately with this pedal is the effectiveness of the knobs ... Adjusting the sound is very precise.

SOUND QUALITY

This pedal is very typical vintage, the sound is clear, warm.
I use it for chorus lining of my TS-10, boost engaged.
I get a warm sound distortion, unlike the DS-1 I was using earlier stages but I wanted to replace it for its lack of heat.
With Mudhonney I filled!
I use it mainly with a Les Paul Junior, a Marshall JTM tube 312.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4 months, and since I have my last chorus sound like I wanted it to sound, with warmth and dynamic!
It is part of my pedalboard, and I stop my search for the distortion I need ...

UTILIZATION

3 knobs: gain, tone and level
1 small boost switch.

At first sight, but nothing extraordinary for the reactivity of knobs, the sound palette is huge.


SOUND QUALITY

I play a Fender Start plugged into a Blackstar HT 5 (5w tube). When the boost is off, the pedal delivers a very nice overdrive. With the gain close to zero, we can have a clean boost.

Once the boost engaged, it enters the regions of distortion, and pushing the gain on the bottom, one arrives at an aggressive fuzz.

Knob The tone is very responsive as well, we can get a round or quite the opposite edge as desired.

In short you'll understand that this pedal is very versatile, and sound that emerges is simply sublime, the dynamics is well felt.

OVERALL OPINION

I needed a very versatile pedal that can go from clean boost to fuzz. I could not earn three pedals (overdrive, distortion, fuzz) for lack of space on my pedalboard. So when I heard of Mudhoney, I became immediately interested.
This pedal is unique, very versatile and I find the price justified in view of the possibilities of the beast.

The T-Rex Engineering Mudhoney is a simple distortion pedal that is designed for electric guitar.  It has a 1/4 inch input and output and is powered by the power supply that comes with it, which I believe is 9 volt.  It is an analog pedal and isn't rack mountable as it is a foot pedal.


UTILIZATION

The T-Rex Engineering Mudhoney is quite a simple pedal to follow and even those without any experience with pedals should be able to figure out how to use this.  The pedal has parameters for gain, level, and tone and also has a boost button.  Using the pedal isn't hard at all since these parameters are found on most distortion pedals.  I haven't seen the manual so I can't speak to how helpful it would be, but it is easy to use and one isn't needed.


SOUND QUALITY

I usually use the T-Rex Engineering Mudhoney with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb for recording and within this set up I'm able to get some pretty awesome sounds.  The distortion tones are really clean and thick sounding and is perfect for old school rock music and punk.  It is best for rhythm sounds, but it is also fine for lead guitar parts.  Even though there aren't all that many different sounds that you could get with this pedal, the ones that you can get are really cool.  I've been using the T-Rex Engineering Mudhoney for about six months and so far I have no complaints.


OVERALL OPINION

Even though this isn't my favorite distortion pedal made by T-Rex, the T-Rex Engineering Mudhoney is still a great pedal in its own right.  While I do like the Dr. Swamp and Moeller a little bit better than this pedal because of versatility, the sounds that you can get with this pedal are really good sounding - they just aren't all that versatile.  Like most T-Rex pedals, this pedal isn't all that cheap but it is built well and will last for a while if it is treated properly.  All in all, the T-Rex Engineering Mudhoney is a fine distortion pedal that should definitely be considered an option for those looking for a distortion pedal.

This is a disortion pedal with the usual level, tone and gain settings by T-Rex. Eveything is constructed very well - T-Rex style!

UTILIZATION

The sound of the Mudhoney reminds me very much of an overdriven tube amp. The whole frequency range is being overdriven – even the basses. This can be at times a bit hard to handle and you need to really like this kind of distortion.

SOUND QUALITY

The distortion has a nice, warm character but kann also sound very undefined very quickly. You have to be careful to not overdo it and turn this pedal into a fuzz effect...

OVERALL OPINION

...which can be something other guitar players are looking for. I personally don’t like the sound of the Mudhoney because it doesn’t give me the definition in the sound I am looking for. Of course the construction and handling is top otherwise.
