1 Too much feedback with overhead microphones
What's up guys. We're using two Shure overhead mics at our church, and we're running them into a 16 channel Taskam mix board. Problem is, whenever we turn them up over six or seven (volume) they blare and get a bunch of feedback. There are other mic's 'somewhat' nearby, but I wouldn't think they'd cause that much interference. Anybody got a clue what's going on?

Keeping them low enough to avoid the feedback when we record services causes us not to get much sound out of them. I'm starting to feel like I wasted my money.

not the mics fault, its all about the acoustics of the room.

you must spot the frequency that engages the feedback.
to do this you need a semi-parametric eq.

or get a feedback destroyer.

What is this feedback destroyer you speak of?

its a simple rack-mount processor that locates feedback and "destroys" it by cutting the specific feedbacking frequency.

behringer are the cheapest, and they work quite good.

but if you have money to spend, you can go with a DBX (IMHO the best)
