UTILIZATION

For sound, just turn the pots.
Frankly, impossible to get lost and you do not complain about the lack of manual!
A micro-flyer shows the settings for this Zakk Wylde ... Fun to play it with your stuff in front of a kick pedal marshall super-saturated in the dug up the cellar ... You are going to run away: it is feedback and company! It should be smaller with this toy! !

SOUND QUALITY

This overdrive is very versatile.
It may as well use it as a signal booster (by playing and Output Gain), while OD than playing on three parameters.
The grain of this pedal is dry enough, you must know. Nothing too much sweat. Nothing drool. It is clear, clean and precise and cons, it's aggressive desire.
That said, the sound palette ranges from the bluesy OD + fusing. Moreover, the tone knob is fulfilling its function.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this stuff for 7-8 months. And I will redeem this pedal if it were to die. UPR is likely actually seen the design, for against, I just switch to a small problem sometimes (as reported in the previous opinion) but nothing too bothersome. This pedal has already shot anyway (bought second hand on e-bay from a seller friendly!).
In short, this is a must. I use it for bluesy phrasing, to add a layer of razor in distortion of the amplifier according to the pieces (with a gain setting at 10 and no more in this case). A good buy! It is true that nine, prices may put off MXR, but the quality is at the rendezvous, as always with the brand.

Knobs: Output, tone, gain.

This is a pretty high gain overdrive box by MXR. Modeled, I believe after the original boss sd-1 with tweaks that Zakk wanted himself.

UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, only two ways to do so. First as a clean boost, meaning the amp's signal is clean, and you boost it with this and it adds so much dirt. SO much that it'll turn your clean tube amp into a classic rock distortion. Very cool. Very high gain. Doesn't sound that great, it's a bit shrill at times this way.

Second, the way it was primarily designed for, a dirty boost. Have an amp set at a semi dirty sound, kick this in and get ready to get smashed in the face!!!

SOUND QUALITY

As a clean boost it's not so great, it'll get you some thin lizzy-type tones which is cool.

As a dirty boost, the way it was meant to be it excels and kicks your amp in the nuts!

Thick, monstrous raunchy tone!! And I'm being literal. It's a huge sound and it sounds so great! No it doesn't sound the same as a tubescreamer, it doesn't boost the mids like a tubescreamer does, not does it sound like an sd-1 where it just boosts the highs and cuts the bass out.

The bass is brought back in with this pedal and the mids aren't over emphasized. Everything seems to come out enhanced and sends a thick, clear, harmonically rich distortion. Raunchy is the best way I could put it.

It is a VERY NOISY pedal however, I believe this is part of the design. The noise is what makes it sound so great? You'd definitely need a gate if you want to do quick stops and starts etc. I really don't know how Zakk does it, well maybe he just keeps playing through all the time. Which seems to be the case. The last time I remember hearing most of his stuff he never really does too many stops and starts etc.




OVERALL OPINION

It's a great pedal as a dirty boost! Super high gain sounds, very raunchy and thick!! Lots of sustain and harmonics! Not your typical TS-9 sound nor is it the weakish sounding Sd-1. It's like an sd-1 on steroids and sounds HUGE.

Great pedal if it weren't for all the noise. Be prepared with a noise gate to tame this beast to get it workin the way you want! Definitely a great metal/high gain overdrive pedal for the price I'd say!

In the right position this pedal is very useful. It does have a good range of tonal options available with only three buttons. The best situation for this pedal to me is having everything maxed out. This is where this pedal lives and anything other than that in my opinion doesn't suffice.

If you are entertaining the Black Label tone that Wylde gets from his guitar and you need a pedal that will beef up an existing overdriven amp then this is the pedal for you. I am not big on signature gear since it is usually tailored obviously to their personal preference which isn't always the best. Many times you need to discover what works for you and your fingers.

UTILIZATION

It has three knobs which consist of Output, Tone, and Gain. Pretty simple operation like most MXR pedals tend to be. The Output is going to control your over all volume the pedal puts out. The Tone will shape your pedal to be brighter or darker depending on which direction you twist it. The gain will add distortion the more you roll it clockwise.

SOUND QUALITY

This pedal to me is designed to be in front of a heavily overdriven high gain amp. It don't find the tone to sound that great when only using this pedal in front of a clean amp. MXR has others pedals that will do this much better if you have a clean amp and only one distortion box.

I used this with a Strat and a Peavey blues amp with an MXR Crabon Copy. I had a mid boost circuit in my guitar so only having this pedal was ok for me. But this was a mod done to the guitar that boosted the circuit. I had a great classic rock rhythm and lead tone with this pedal. However it wasn't great and probably will never use it in this operation again.

OVERALL OPINION

I'm in no way in love with this pedal. MXR has very good pedals for distortion and effects. To me this pedal was a way to capitalize on the fame of Zakk's popularity. Not anything wrong with that but I don't think this is a good general distortion box that anyone would want to use. You either need to be a fan or really like the tone from this pedal...which I am not either of them. However, his signature chorus pedal sounds very good.

I would recommend this pedal to a fan of BLS or 90's Ozzy tones with Zakk. Or someone who just generally likes the tone from this pedal. If you're looking for a great OD pedal then try the new pedal from MXR called Custom M78. That pedal is killer!

A pedal plug-n-play with a power supply with a 9V battery or sector, a switch, 2 inputs jacks (in / out) and 3 small potentiometers Output Gain and Tone. A nice little analog overdrive pedal.

UTILIZATION

Then, not easier (apart may be the pedal has a potentiometer), one branch, one button quickly to make pots, jumping like a nag on the switch because the pedal is super strong, and hop sound is transformed!

SOUND QUALITY

Sound, but what a sound!
Magic, once you put it in a Marshall already well set for a pure hard rock, if you plug it in more above, the receiver becomes a showman! We feel good the personal touch of Zakk Wylde anyway.
Just something disappointing on this pedal is the breath she emits a noise gate and it's over but hey it's a shame.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it since Christmas 2010 and I am really very happy! I rediscovered my equipment with it, I experience new sounds, and everything was from this pedal.

Overdrive pedal for classic settings (gain, volume, tone).
Taking / feeder on the side is not well-positioned.
All appears solid.

Used on metal guitar preamp input as a boost or overdrive as principal.
The overdrive is both dry and grainy. Personally, I love the color it brings to her (it reduces slightly lower )....

I have some feedback problems when the gain or tone are beyond 7.


OVERALL OPINION

I use it for over 4 years, mostly for a distortion by boosting a channel barely crunchy. The result is very good.

I remake this choice without hesitation ...
