Friday's Freeware: Luftikus
This week's freeware is an equalization plug-in called Luftikus, created by lkjb Plug-ins for Mac and Windows.
Luftikus is based on the modeling of an analog equalizer offering five half-octave bands (10Hz, 40Hz, 160Hz, 640Hz and 2.5kHz) and an additional Boost for the high frequencies at 2.5kHz, 5kHz, 10kHz, 20kHz and 40kHz.
The original gain range has been extended to allow additional cuts. A Keep Gain feature and a trim function are also available, which are enhancements compared to the original hardware, and prevent the EQ from clipping. The trim allows for manual adjustments while the Keep Gain reduces the gain while conserving, the global volume as much as possible.
Lastly, you can choose between an "Analog" behavior or a "Mastering" mode with stepped controls.
Luftikus is available in VST format for Windows and VST and AU for Mac OS X, both in 32 and 64-bit. You can download it for free from code.google.com/p/lkjb-plugins/ ("Downloads" tab).
Have a great weekend!
