1 Digital road to Damascus
So we're about to embark on the digital recording road to Damascus........we've done the analogue bit......we've done the studio bit...............now we're progressing to the PC studio environment......

I live [come from] the world of software so I'm only too aware of the many nuances that, within the digital recording world, hardware/software integration can/could/might/will have on people trying to record quality sounds.....it can be a costly, time consuming...frustrating..and sole destroying time...not good....so here's some questions that we have to try and minimize the pain.

We have Cubase on a laptop [Viao]

Whats' the top 2/3 external sound cards we should consider purchasing
We've noticed that sound cards have input port limitations [usually 2] We want 8 minimum so how do we get around that prob?
Any software that we could/should consider to complement Cubase?

We're working through the Cubase vids so at the mo the move to the path of Digital Recording is just about as painful as it can get...all and any help would be appreciated...fras
