I use the iPad recently (November 2010) but I knew the machine for a while and I had the opportunity to repeatedly touch the critter.
The answer is clearly: no. I have not tried other models (different brand but equivalent). Without being a fanboy of Apple extreme, I largely embraced the concept of the product.
Despite most of the advice, the lack of a USB port does not bother me. It is true that appearance is a giant iPhone (no phone) but I find qur use is much more enjoyable. The screen is really beautiful. Even in low light, vibrant colors, and navigation is easy.
The other reason for my purchase is to use music that I'm going to do. I use currently nanostudio, originally developed for iPhone. His interest iPad is truly enormous. Few pixels that are outside but a pleasure to use. Then, the acquisition of various music software such as MS-20, etc. ...
It is true that the price is a little excessive and that at that price, you can have a PC to enjoy more or less the same multimedia features. For my part, I chose the first model, without 3G 16GB (at the same time, I do not see me walk down the street with surfing, too risky ...)
If I should buy, I would do it without problem by opting for a larger capacity.
