Ibanez PF10-12

I bought the guitar at a pawn shop in Provo, Utah for $150 with a soft case. I already have two 6-string acoustics and have wanted a 12-string for some time, but did not want to pay a lot.

I love the 12-string sound. Although it is a little harder to play that a 6-string, I've had fun with it for the two weeks I've had it. It has great volume and sustain. The wood is in quite good shape for an older model, just a few belt scratches on the back.

The only things I don't like are;

the sound is a little too treble for me, but that really works for certain songs

and

the neck is so wide I have a little trouble getting around it for some more complex chords. But I assume most 12-strings have a similar neck and it's just the nature of the beast.

Surprisingly good construction and finish. The action is low, the fit is good. It holds it's tune very well, something I was worried about with 12 tuners to fiddle with. The wood on the back and sides I think is dark mahogany and it's beautiful.

It was just what I wanted and at the price I wanted to spend. If it gets broken, I would be sad, but have little reason to cry because it was so cheap. I hope I can get good enough to play some real 12-string classics like Turn, Turn, Turn.

Received as a gift, I do not know the purchase price but mid-range Ibanez at the time. Manufacturing Korea unpretentious but solid lutherie, the varnish has skated and is superb. Solid spruce top, mahogany splint, mahogany neck, rosewood table and agree on chevalet.le handle is 47 mm at the nut, nothing too much for a 12 string.

UTILIZATION

With age the frets have lost their grip and took a comfortable rounded finger. We should not have big fingers but with the sleeves Ibanez action is normal and with light bronze strings (Earth light wood) as the game is fast with 6 strings. for the right hand, it's different, 12 instead of 6 to stir it counts and we learn (or not at all). No cutaway, the sound is rich, deep bass and crystalline highs-normal for a 12-string-even an average violin will sound good in 12 strings.

SOUNDS

Once granted ... and retuned because the lifts are not upscale you do it: agree it sounds like previously stated, the sustain is amazing, after more than 10 years the wood resounds like a drum - it's not for nothing that Yamaha has created a process of artificial aging of wood from their guitar - It's better than leaving the gift card. Amateur nice sound: buy old or vantage as they say. The guitars are fucking weak and are only good with his personal and warm. Besides the spruce has taken a pretty honey color that has nothing to do with spruce Palot youth.
I do not use it at every moment because I have other guitars but demanding style Butler, picking, taping the lady sing beautifully. I tried a shop in Tanglewood (GTW 145 to 500euros 12S) lacking really breath and chest from my PF.

OVERALL OPINION

So a dozen years of use, always spotless condition.
What I love most? It's MY guitar, it is buddy, its large size Dreadnought is a friendly presence, besides the sound is beautiful, though loosed, treble, just enough without being strident and delicious bass.
The least? mechanical without oil or rustic settings, but hey it is changed.
I think the OP was worth the time or 3 4000 fr 400 to 600 euros now. The 12 string repertoire is fairly limited (by the player's skill that is) I would not want to buy now a 12-string, but it is a beautiful experience that will be missed by those who do not try. (As convoluted reasoning but accurate)
