Excellent
For a master keyboard of this price range, the E-MU Xboard49 is really full!
What motivated me to buy is the aftertouch and 16 knobs!
I bought it in October 2005 in Homestudio to € 149 and I can tell you that this is far from price to pay given its characteristics!
In summary:
- 49 keys with aftertouch
- 2 wheels
- Function buttons
- 16 knobs (that's great!)
- USB output
- MIDI output
- An input pedal footswitch
UTILIZATION
I mainly need a master keyboard to control my sequencer and VST instruments, and also to just play the piano. So I looked for the best value of the moment (10/2005) by comparing the market supply and it based on various opinions and tests.
After careful reflection, it seemed obvious that the E-MU Xboard in Resort hands down winner in competition. It's not for nothing that he won the "Award 2005 Quality / Price" AF!
Before buying this keyboard, there was every indication that this was a must.
Short and once bought, unpacked and tested, it appears that he fills the part of his contract on paper as in reality.
Something really amazing from the first second ... Touch. In this price range, afford such a hit, it's luxury! It feels sturdy and the quality of your fingertips! EXCELLENT!
The 16 knobs are not bad, very helpful to control its VST and more beautiful finish. on the other hand, it's a shame they are not "endless 360 °", but hey should not ask too much lol.
The only thing that bothers me is the function buttons with 2 balls! Actually they are ultra cheap, made of hard plastic because of poor quality! And when we put the keyboard on a surface slightly wobbly and that taps above, we see that the buttons are agitated in their holes with a sound quite annoying ...
(A priori, this defect was corrected in the latest series by replacing them with flexible plastic buttons such as knobs, so to check ...)
Otherwise the driver installation is done like clockwork.
OVERALL OPINION
It'll be a year next month I use the keyboard and holds the road with no problem.
I repeat, the Xboard is by far the best quality / price ratio in terms of master keyboard in this range (it is currently € 139). I have tried many other less than € 149, but it's not even worth ... Touch is incomparable ...
If you have a small budget and want quality, then look no further.
If it again, I would gladly do it again!
