Taylor 615ce Jumbo
Published on 12/24/03 at 15:00Just purcased this new love of my life from www.musiclandusa.com and if you have to ask why, then you may not have picked up a Taylor and played it. I paid a decent price, in my honest opinion, $1249 for the guitar, however did get a Fender Acoustasonic Jr. amp as well in the deal, with a hard case for the guitar.
Having meandered through the local guitar shops looking for something decent, and at a sub $1000 pricetag, I make the fortunate mistake of sitting down to play some Taylors, just to see what I was missing....good move for me, expecially around Christmas time. I fell in love with the Jumbo 615ce and it's incredible tone and warmth. Plugged it into the Fender amp and just sat there getting acquainted for a while...walked out of the store on a mission to find a reputable dealer who can save me the tax and shipping, and get this baby on the road to my front door. The craftsmanship and detail are immaculate, amazing, and beyond my wildest hopes as for fit and finish.
I don't like that Taylor has a buy one get one free policy, as I am now a convert and will spend the rest of my naturaly life pursuing more Taylor guitars. There are no dislikes with this guitar.
Gorgeous and well manufactured.
If you are shopping around for a new guitar, treat yourself to five minutes with any Taylor, you will see what I mean when you let it talk to YOU. What a fantastic purchase...need more Taylors in my life.

UTILIZATION
Oh my goodness is this a nice guitar. The neck is incredible, and the tone is quite powerful. Of course, the build quality is fantastic - Taylor does not make bad guitars, especially in this price range. However, I feel that the guitar is a bit large for me, so it isn't as ergonomic as I'd like. But it still plays very well. The woods are gorgeous, and the finish is expertly done.
SOUNDS
The guitar sounds huge! The large size and abundance of maple in the neck and body give this instrument a very vibrant, large tone. The low end is quite present, silky mids, and sparkly high end. Plugged in, the Taylor Expression system does the job with maximum clarity. This is what an acoustic guitar should sound like.
OVERALL OPINION
This is a great guitar, all the way around. I'd have given it perfect marks, but the size is a touch uncomfortable to me. I wish more guitar makers would use maple for necks, back, and sides - it really is a great sounding wood. Highly recommended, but it'll cost you.
