This is a magnetic pickup installed in the rosette. As one reads in other reviews, this is a great product. A similar technology, cheaper than competition as LRBaggs, or SeymourDuncan Fishman. It installs or uninstalls easily.
I did not hear acoustic guitar modification by installing it in the sound hole. It has a light color "electric" when used without special acoustic amp or DI, but it is easily corrected with equalization on such console (too acute tip). Passive mode is a bit more natural than the slightly electrically active mode. Finally it may be subjective.
The sound is very dynamic, balanced and precise, with a natural edge of the wood of the guitar but of course this is not a Neuman placed before the guitar. It adds air to the sound, and especially if you are allergic to its piezo "plastic" like me, it can really make you happy. Plugged into an aer or Para DI or an analog console with good preamps lamps and there was something very nice to listen to and play.
And as others say opinion, it picks up the sound of the table and the body, and for me it is an interesting property to complete the riffs by rhythmic finger or palm on the table; and as I do not give "involuntary" knock on the table guitar playing, this property of the microphone is not a problem, on the contrary.
Finally, it is very resistant to feedback on any stage sizes, I have not had a problem that equalization has resolved. A great buy for me!
