All user reviews for the Yamaha C5

I have a C5 for 10 years (bought new) and I use it in Jazz (1 -2 hours / day when I'm home).
At first I really loved this piano (dynamic, precision, brightness, low midrange treble balance ...). In addition he holds very good agreement.
However in the long run in my opinion is more mixed:
- Lack of richness in harmonics
- Feel very heavy (compared to Pleyel pianos as the same size), so very demanding
but also:
- Parasitic vibrations, both unbearable and random! (Sometimes you have to close the open to try to eliminate them: this is a real problem for me
- Ringing 3-4 score at the interface between medium and low (not to remove by the tuner
For a piano of this standard I'm pretty disappointed.
Perhaps a re-alignment with a top tuner could solve my problems, so far I have not managed to solve the problem.

I personally did not have this piano in my house, but I m'entrane often this type of piano at the Conservatory of Paris. I know as my pocket ...
This is an excellent piano sound with a relatively tight range and sensitivity trs respectable.Le touch, typical of Yamaha C-type, is not too heavy and trs sensible. (It does not forgive any mistakes ...) In against part, the quality of the keys if the use is worn trs intensive and ingalits this level appear.
The flat sound great, versatile, warm, flashy and incisive (also typical of Yamaha Pianos, one must love). You can really make beautiful things. Depending on the quality of production (variable but never bad) you can have pianos grsillent, squeaking, vibrating, which rsonnent (harmonic frequencies are powerful trs), which is Gnant enough.
Namoins, this piano is the fate study a professional level for the scne.
The quality-price ratio parat me correct: 27 190 new.

The Yamaha C5 is a grand piano that sounds and plays great under all circumstances. We have one of these in the studio where I work, and it definitely sees quite a bit of use. I've used a number of Yamaha pianos for recording, and while I can't say that the C5 is the best of the bunch, it's definitely up there. It's an easy piano to play, with a nice touch and good action. It has the feel that you'd expect from any professional piano. While piano isn't my primary instrument, I've played many pianos in different recording studios, and those in this Yamaha series of grand pianos seem to give you some of the best bang for your buck available. The Yamaha C5 in particular, has a very bright and vibrant sound to it. In my opinion it's best for rock and pop music rather than jazz or classical, but it's certainly more than suitable for any genre. It definitely has a brighter sound than many of the other Yamaha pianos that I've used, but this isn't a bad thing, it's just a matter of personal preference. I've only recorded the Yamaha C5 a few times, using a set of Neumann U 87's to pick up the sound and through a Neve console. This combination offers up the most clarity and fullness that you could want in a piano sound in my opinion, although there are certainly better pianos out there. Yamaha can afford to offer high quality pianos at these type of prices since they are such a large company, and they certainly know what they're doing since they got their start making pianos. Whether you're looking for a grand piano for your recording studio or for your home, the Yamaha C5 is a stellar piano at an even stellar price.
