Event Electronics Opal

To follow my Prism Orpheus and make my audio chain something coherent, I had quality speakers. So I opted for Opal (after a few months of savings)
Domestic use: composition & audio mixing at home.
I followed (perhaps foolishly?) The advice of some audiophiles who advise prowling brand new enclosure for about twenty hours, with a varied program and a medium level.
Note: Many users have complained in the AF forums big worries about buzz on tweeters, sometimes breath. I must say here that mine are ultra silent series "G", which would mean that Event since corrected this for the reliability of its products.

SOUNDS

I expect the mic & the software to check the inherent EQ curve to my studio (already insulated) but as is any noticeable bump.
The dynamics are impressive ... a sense of esthetic power (Opal are very robust, 23 kg) & sound, ultra-precise even at low speed.
The stereo image: So there it falls mystical experience! Garbot melody, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Leigh Nash, Dave Gahan, everything is clear, limpid, reverbs prove unpretentious, any compression (or error mix!) Transpires immediately. The 3D effect so hammered about these monitors is not a qualifier usurped.
At the spectrum, the bass is very very clear: to set your eq a kick or bass, which saves time! I found the mid-high rendering of a little tense or stiff at first. And then you realize that all this is just specific, real, no artifacts supposedly on the horizon, just a break-in required.
Also worth noting that I have not experienced these days no ear fatigue later in the day.

OVERALL OPINION

In the end I use them for a fortnight at 7 to 8 hours / day. This is an excellent investment, albeit expensive, but as one of my relatives said "the price is forgotten, the quality remains".
Small problem: the on-off switch at the back of the speakers ... just no one point of view ergonomic.
For the rest I urge you to listen to them, for example with one of your favorite titles. It is a pure delight.
If I had to make a synthesis of these speakers, it would be termed a "sound microscope ', sort of revealing musical details, all with such power that finally brings me to write: Event Opal = robustness, reliability Sound & total clarity.

I bought these speakers after reading various reviews across the net, without even hearing. I thought that if all the sound engineers were in agreement that this is the best speakers in the area, why hesitate?

I use them for everything but mainly the mix, I think it would have been useful in the composition arrangement etc ... What if, in fact, at least we know directly is going to sound like such instrument or synthesizer.

SOUNDS

- The frequency curve is sufficiently neutral?

Uh neutral? just my n'veu!

- The dynamics are respected? ...

It n'peut better!

- The stereo image is good?

As they say down home: you can not test! Excellent stereo!

- The sound is clear and precise on the spectrum?

I mean yeah! There's no clearer!

OVERALL OPINION

I use these speakers recently, but they have radically changed my life in small mixer Sunday!
Finally I had before with the HS50 HS10 sub so I always made both extremes! But I've heard a lot of speakers (HS50, HS80, RP5 VXT8, KH120 (very good by the way), BM5A etc.) and I can tell you that apart from Adam MP1, I have not heard anything better . What is unfortunate is that I could not compare with the speakers of the same order price (or Focal Twin Adam S3X) but I can tell you that they are monsters! Accurate across the spectrum, good dynamic stereo bluffing, finally I could not find fault! It is a pleasure to mix with, no nasty surprises when you listen to his mixes on TV or in the car and then frankly it makes it easier, no need to strain to hear the little things the reverbs are clearly audible even small, precise bass etc, finally they are pregnant to have I think!
Question quality / price ratio, I would say that it is expensive but you can see why!
And yes I do it again this choice without problems, it can not be disappointed by these speakers, I think, finally!

Mix / premastering

I knew the brand, having possessed ASP8 (very good speakers in their price range).
This is a totally different design. I found these speakers ... by listening to a user.

SOUNDS

Extremely accurate stereo image. Obvious spatial localization of sources.

Pregnant "revealing" to discover, even at low level tools (eg very small discreet percussion) present in securities
Yet listened dozens of times on several different plays!

Impressive level of detail across the spectrum.

- Graves very "tense", and further farms at a time (they outperform everything I've tested in this price range).
Very impressive. Adding a Sub seems superfluous.
- Treble never aggressive but still chiseled. Detailed, but well integrated into the overall refund.
- Medium and low medium very specific: the voices become really easy to work.
Small drawback: you'll have trouble re-listen to some of your old mix

The overall dynamic is amazing! Feeling "in the orchestra"



OVERALL OPINION

Used for 4 months

Adam tried S3 (excellent speaker, perhaps a little more aggressive, less dense in the lower midrange)
Focal Twin (just as interesting, but with less safe in the grave)
K & H O300D (superb pairs, but perhaps less "tonic", dynamic)

These speakers, in my opinion, belong to the forefront in terms of listening nearby, next to 3 pairs mentioned above (among others). Sensation aeration (stereo amazing), power, even at low listening level (dynamic). Accuracy of the response curve, providing, also a sense of homogeneity.

Event has raised a good bet in a relatively compact enclosure (but not lightweight: 23 kg).
Warning, these require mandatory Opal acoustics treated seriously for profit (lower spectrum, in particular)
