«  Analog console of good quality »

Published on 06/10/12 at 05:21
Analog console scheduled for the sound / mixing with a multitrack tape kind Fostex Model 80.
12 XLR inputs with 24V phantom
12 additional inputs (RCA) to mix or sync back
2 to the classics, a third with the stereo pan (sync back to the mix)
EQ: Parametric 2 + 1 acute nonparametric centered 10kHz
8 subgroups with 8 LED VU meters, 8 faders send and RCA outputs
Exits and returns to the jack unbalanced.
No onboard effects.

UTILIZATION

Originally scheduled for home studio recording with a tape multitrack tape Fostex Model 80 or R8. This explains the connections in the CAR.
EQ lovely and purposes, this is the highlight of the table.
Easy and intuitive enough, only the mix of sync back along the recording may need to take the manual.
I used often live without problems: obviously some of the functions of the table is no longer used (sync returns, 8 subgroups with 12 entries ...) but it sounds very pleasantly cons.

SOUNDS

I find it quite neutral, and again the EQ is very good: well spaced in frequency around the knob, correct and effective progressive, they are well-designed EQ.
Of course, one does not have full parametric that price and I would have appreciated a knob of serious tray or even a fixed low cut in addition to parametric in the bass, but I think it's a good EQ section.
Breath: Very reasonable for the main circuit (12 XLR -> 8 groups, LR) it is against most audible in the circuit that serves 3 To return to sync or sometimes also for effects sends.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought a Model 80 to about 1990 models and even some recordings.
This console was then used me live when I needed a few entries: light, easy to use, good sound ...
I sold in 2011 after having revised (power capacitors) and she left for a new life! I have the service manual :-)

the +: the price (good value for Q / P in hand), the EQ, the weight.
the -: RCA connectors on the sub / groups and LR, the breath of the Aux 3.
