USE

For the simplistic side, yes it is in, there's no clearer. A key / knob function, basic what. Obviously no possibility edition but it keeps your rglages the lights, so no need to start all over relighting. Otherwise it .... and everything. In short this is the most easy to access this super synth.

SONORITS

.... The sounds are quite low and very expressive characteristics leads its manufacturer.
I got it for 1 year so I had time to go around and it must be said the Prodigy is somewhat surpassed. Some will tell you that it is the master of the bass but forget to tell you that over 28 years have couls since his first placing on the market. Me, I like to believe I am sr it had its place but today it is not possible to see all the hay that is done on this machine.
Ok, ok it's Moog, a very pleasant look, a keyboard very honest and good resistance to years. The bass is deep enough and it is easy to play and move osc or filters at the same time, so 100% super easy and intuitive to play obviously.
Its architecture and the components considerably limit and it is impossible to create original sounds (nothing to do with the Mini or Voyager). In fact, the Prodigy is the largest of the pre Phaty with a little more potato (lightweight) but less than possibilities.
Probably great and revolutionary on the day of its release (1979) but a little fashion victim today at least not at the price or is proposplus 700 !! ??) that approximates the scam.

NOTICE GLOBAL

Use for 1 year and I did not gard it did not convince me of a lack of diversity. Certainly there are the low Depeche Mode Speak and Spell period and many bands Techno / cover but is it good enough? Purchased 500 I sold the same price a friend who was inflated with 2 Foogers, just to give it a little more flexibility. But if we want to use it via Midi is with Kenton and +200. The Moog Music Prodigy is one of the more lower end versions from Moog, and it has spread widely because of how good it sounds and its very affordable and compact enough to move around with you if you need to. I use this as just a sound module and can get some really cool stuff whe messing with some of the options that I comes with. You will have to use this as a sound module like I do, there are no on board sequencers so you wont be able to make any type of patterns. So the only uses would be for a sound module or for live performance or just messing around. This came out in 1979 and people are still purchasing it today, that says a lot about Moog, and how they continue to stay relevant and dominate. There is nothing like a Moog and this is just the entry level one but still has a great sound and you will love it.


UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, with no extra knobs and no sequencing everything is just about the sound which is just how I like it. Makes it a lot easier not having to worry about the other stuff like arpeggiators or modulation. This is a very easy to use device that is 32 to keys and will give you no problems using.


SOUNDS

The sounds are great, not the best moog sounding board bu what do you expect for the price. You will still get a Moog.


OVERALL OPINION

Simple looking machine with a big sound, it’s a great way to start to understand analog sounds and vintage machines. This could be great for your if you are looking for your firt vintage piece of gear, its small enough to learn on so you can grow to some of the more complex vintage analog synths.

Signed Moog synth basic, portable, lightweight and specializes in the bass.
Simplistic architecture, everything is at hand and very educational.
It is a single course and only controllable via CV / Gate.
However the keyboard is very 'cheap' just a notch above a Prophet One is to say.

UTILIZATION

Level use is fine, everything is in front of you so a = 1 function knob.
At this level we can say that the prodigy as many mono analog that time (early 80's) is very simple.

SOUNDS

Great little monophonic synth, super easy to use.

I recommend anyone who wants the Moog sound, but do not have the budget for a mini or travel, and those who want killer bass! (The moog for bass players ...)
Keyboard two and a half octaves (32 keys), using two wheels CONTRL management LFO, standard connector in the late seventies, but no MIDI (I personally do not need it, so for me is not a default).
on the other hand, mine is the second generation, and possde all possible exits in CV / Gate, unlike the Prodigy, who had a first audio output.

UTILIZATION

Configuring on-no-longer simple (2oscillos, an LFO, the wonderful and sublime 24dB Moog filter, one standard and one ADS ADS for fitr): basically it is THE single two oscilloscope!

It takes a few minutes to understand the principle, and it puts DCEN exploit ...

UTILIZATION

The sound ... well it's something personal trs. Some love the grain Moog, others not at all. It sounds Moog, no doubt. It sounds fatter than a Little Phatty is also certain, as the VCO are not always properly calibrated and that it still does not keep a perfect tuning of the 100me Hz .. Envelopes are fast, allowing to make beautiful bass quite frankly. We can not do anything with. In my opinion it lacks an S / H, a ring modulator, a few more modulation possibilities ... A Pro-One goes much further in this area. But a possde dlicieux Sync which is almost forget everything else. So forget the FX madness, or other sounds which an ARP Odyssey, an MS-20 or a Yamaha CS-15 are kings. The Moog Prodigy is a small simple monophonic, which is good bass, nice leads and other small effects crmeux very nice. Note that plugging a squenceur (in my case a small Step 64 of MFB via CV), we get about the results very nice dj!

I use it for a long time dj. This is the mono that I take with me on scne. Thanks its strong its great simplicity of use is really the companion IDAL. In the studio, I prfre by far my CS-15, more powerful in terms of possibility, but that requires much more time to find its appropriate.

The problem? The name and price that follows ... Personally, I got mine for 350 francs (200 Euros) in the United States, in perfect state, really like new. I know the rating on this site is only indicative, sometimes even compltement false, well for the Prodigy is the case ... was not worth more than 350 to 400 Euros. And yet ... in a perfect state. But these are almost all Moog who suffer from this problem.

But for someone looking for a little Moog with a big sound and easy to use trs, who does not want to take the head with possibilities closer to a modular (as a CS-30 ), and if there is a reasonably priced, it is an instrument that will bring him much pleasure.

Hyper basic, but what many forget to say that it is easily "expandable" with such a Moogerfooger pedals "control processor".

Well, let's be clear: it's a moog pure juice, so it's totally dbile to compare anything. In its register is champion but do not ask him what he can not do. - Or you really want this type of sound (fat and brass) in which case the purchase is justified.
- Or you just find an analog capable of "everything" to do and in this case it is better to look elsewhere ...
1000 is cheap for the real Moog sound, but it's expensive for an analogue rev simplistic.
Addition of 16/10/09: There is a bank "prodigy" on the famous Minimonsta. The Moog Music Prodigy is a vintage analog synth that has about 25 keys and covers around two and a half octaves. The Prodigy is a powerful synth with a ton of parameters that makes it a truly versatile synth. I have used this in a number of different musical genres, but mostly for pop and rock. The Prodigy is suitable for any type of music that you would like to use it with.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Moog Music Prodigy for about five years and it is one of my favorite synths in the Moog Music line of synths for a number of reasons. It is easy to follow and capable of getting almost an endless amount of sounds. It is a step above the Moog Rouge, but isn't as versatile as the Voyager. This makes it a good option for those looking for a real vintage analog synth from Moog, but don't want to spend thousands of (US) dollars. I'm a huge advocate of all Moog synths, and the Prodigy is one of their classics.
