Published on 05/08/03 at 15:00I purchased this amp at ebay.com for $1500,
it's a second hand but very recent (5months).
It's the most versatile amp that I ever played. I have owned many for 15 years, SWR - Ampeg - trace elliot...etc. Nothing to compare !
very very powerful (even too much), and hight sound quality, it respects very much the natural sound of your bass. the all tube preamp stage gives a very deep warm tone, as much as (even more) any all tube amp.
That's a rock ! very heavy, with the rack case it's more than 50 lbs. impossible to carry by hand more than a block. If you don't have a car, forget it. Also,If you play at low volume, the 2 fans on the back make a loud noise, and the sound is not so great at low volume, the gain needs to be at least at 12 o'clock to give the deep warm sound, but anyway, it's a stage amp, not made to play at low volume...
the warranty of this product is 10 years, but not transferable to a second owner.why??????????
A very high handmade quality, I don't think you can find a better product on the market, also in terms of sound, aesthetic appeal,
durability. a very good point : there is a Jensen-balanced XLR output, better than ANY DI box on the market, so you give a very good signal to the sound guy in a concert situation.
For me it's the best amp ever.
This amp is definitely made for professional situations, it's a stage amp, for big venues.
If you only play on your garage or small clubs, you don't need that, you will never exploit the possibilities of it. with the master at 7 o'clock, it already takes off the wallpaper of your living room. Even in big clubs, you make the sound guy crazy if the master is up 10 o'clock, and you become deaf as well ! I play with 2 Gallien Kruegger cabs (4 x10 and 2 x 10)and in any situation,I have no problem to hear myself, even with 2 crazy guitarists and an heavy drumer !
