UTILIZATION
Getting started is very simple. Not need the manual because it is not an amp like "gas factory", provided, however, be familiar with using a graphic equalizer. So we get the sound very quickly. This amp plays in the "You branches and it sounds right away!
SOUNDS
That amp has been designed under the guidance of Mark King, English bassist known for his game to slap her very clear. This head Ashdown therefore delivers beautiful highs (there are in reserve!) But also a serious deep and very clean. The equalizer is very effective, you get any type of sound whatever your music style. Whether you're a reggae, metal or funk, Ashdown AL-MK 500 adapts to all records.
As for the advertised power, it does not pretend! This is awesome! My drummer does it is still not recovered (though he hits hard!). The sound of the bass is never drowned because of excellent combination of power and equalization quality.
Little downside with this type of amp overkill: a (mild) buzz begins to be heard when you push the output volume to the highest level. The toroidal transformer could, in my opinion, have better shielding. But, I quibble a bit.
Little specificity in this model amp Ashdown, "Harmonic emphasis. This is not really an effect but rather a correction is Resort harmonics of the strings. Very useful when your strings begin to lose their shine. We really feel they can resume a helping youth. Amazing!
OVERALL OPINION
It has been 5 months since I use it and I am generally satisfied.
No failure. No surprises. It's hefty (nothing to do with China's production of the same brand).
I bought it secondhand (600 €) which is a relatively good price compared to price new (between 800 and 900 € depending on suppliers).
Having found this amp to replace my old Trace Elliot head, I do not regret my purchase. I find the ergonomics fit for Trace Elliot, but with this side "get rid of the supreflu" to emphasize the most important: a beautiful sound!
So I'll buy this amp if necessary. Really won!
