I use it for 5 years with much more happiness for the tweak!

I tried a lot of platinum, they sound all digital except at prices inaccessible to ordinary mortals.

Most of this plate is the return once tweakée with "aop audio-gd" and a box called by veudeur on ebay "Passive Preamp Platinum CD" all for a ridiculous amount compared to the improvement.

The price / quality ratio is offline contributes what makes cringe quite a lot of sellers.

With experience, I would buy a philips cd 723 and I would start to tweak the NRDS while putting "aop audio-gd" and "Passive Preamp made in Ebay Platinum CD" ca me avoid wasting time because time is the music!

Before this one I had a Marantz CD50, a Yamaha CDX-880 and various Sony, Philips stood out in the time-to-CD, CD tolerance to damaged and the reliability of the carriage.

I have this board for at least 7 years. I bought it following advice in an audiophile magazine. Rare for a platinum 990 Francs or € 150 at the time.
I took an extended 3 year warranty (total 5 years) and as well I got to 4 years and 10 months now that the opening of the drawer fatigue. Since then, no worries.

The sound has never posed problems, but I have not had any other deck hands to compare in recent years.
I am very intrigued by the previous opinion which speaks of changes to improve the sound.

The remote has an angle of action a little short for my taste and bland is bad but otherwise it has a good head for an entry-level turntable, the digital output is greatly appreciated, and it's pretty reliable (j 'by a fairly intensive use).

I have this unit for a year and a half, found in a depot used sales less than € 50 with remote control. I had read that it was a very good value for money, I do not disappoint. (Philips is the inventor of compact disc anyway ...).

The device is very nice to use. No problem to read cd at the moment. Remote easy to handle.

The only criticism I would make: the default volume is 20/20 (or less) when you plug the device. Can not turn down the volume without the remote, watch out the sound can be very strong at the output of amp!

On Ebay this device reaches big bucks! and attention to changes and other tweaks, this means quite expensive! For a mailing to ask if the seller has the original packaging! This is a good camera to make his debut in stereo

purchased in 2000 / 2001, this must-have cd decks is always a delight to my ears demanding!
I had purchased because of its very good reputation and positive tests in audiophile magazines.
the promise is widely held, and for a ridiculous price (1000f or 150 euros) at the time.
more compatible cdrw, which m 'is essential to read my burned cd cdr on my 770 (read my review on this unit) at the time, since replaced by cdr 560 and 775.
Also the sound very good (high dynamic stereo wide and very little wind), although I 've never wanted the tweaked, I greatly appreciated the simplicity of programming, the search for peak level (useful to set the level of analog recording of my drives), the line output and headphone level variable (damage only by remote control), and its function fading (always nice for my prints).
moreover, many scratched CDs rejected by my other readers are read without great difficulty, evidence of good behavior in time of calibration lentille.ce which then allows me to save me time using this plate as a source for my drives.
c 'is a platinum m offer so much fun to listen because of its quality of restitution of less hacks sound of my cd "psychedelic" 70's, and its unfailing reliability, I do not hesitate to redeem!

- What thing do you like most/least about it?
It's plain & simple, and very fast at reading/playing a cd when inserted...unlike the brand new Sony SACD player i just bought damn it (SCD-XE597), which doesn't even have a volume setting on the remote, which the Philips CD723 did!!
Can read CD-RW too in theory but not all models did in practice...mine did, though.
Had a coaxial digital output, which i prefer to optical...again, the Sony XE597 has optical...aargh...
Also, i think the design is quite ok, even now...again, better than the pointlessly bulky Sony SACD i just got...

- Did you try many other models before getting this one?
None, saw a review in an audiophile magazine and they actually liked the CD723, which is amazing for a £100 player. So i got it.

- What is your opinion about the value for the price?
Obviously, the player must have cost virtually nothing to make, i mean there is nothing inside...but compared to other players i'd say it was good value.

- Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?...
Yes, however i would have sold it sooner...i had a 5 year warranty and just before the end of that the drawer started to come out slowly...so i got that fixed under warranty. Then about 3 or 4 years later it started doing it again. Sometimes it wouldn't open, sometimes it would work fine. I sold it for 50€ (£30) and bought this slow Sony SACD player (the cheapest i could find) that doesn't even have a volume setting...what a rip off. That'll be my next review, and it won't be all good, i tell you! ;-D

Had the CD723 had CD-text then it might have deserved a 10.
