SOUND QUALITY

A honeyed warmth that's good to hear! attention to, compression, you can quickly lose transients if the rule no matter how (in a sense this is normal, it is on the high end preamp, we go not to hard)

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years, I bought it used! I would do without hesitation that choice! Use live on a micro or hardware to the mix! Visible in almost all studios and this is normal, a benchmark to live up to its reputation

Very nice.
Often coupled with a Neumann M149. It does its job.
The compressor is still a little soft. But in the end I rec without compression.
This is the micro-amp which is important of course depending on the type of voice or instrument and room acoustics couple.
I made several albums and songs released in major. Sound engineers had nothing to reproach my shots.

OVERALL OPINION

Use for 8 years
I had the opportunity to work on different preamps (Tubetech, Neve, API, Universal Audio, etc.)
This is the first analog preamp that I bought. This is a good entry into this world. Warning this is a drug!
Of course there are much better and much more distinctive. The advantage is that is seldom wrong. If you already have a lot of stuff, you know and you will have your way and prefer more serious models (including 1073). Despite all this, it is still in my rack and I use it every day. It is convenient, easy access to good quality / price ratio and gives very good results on vocals.
I also have a Tubetech and neve slices. I think I will buy another soon preamp transistor for more opportunity.
I would do this choice without soucis.Il made me grow and made me a lot for a reasonable price.

Channel strip with the preamp and compressor are lamps, the "equalization" being transistors. Gorgeous look, a little "bling bling Rican."

Rather simple to use and understand, the manual is correct for those who need it.

SOUND QUALITY

For me this machine is sometimes excellent, and often disappointing. This is not a machine to do everything. Percussive sounds and bass are not very well made to me. On vocal recordings, on the other hand, it is sometimes magical. Everything depends on the style, the microphone and voice. I do not recommend this Avalon to anyone looking for a versatile tool. on the other hand, it complements your studio very useful if you already have) some machines. I changed the tubes from my machine there a few years ago to place lamps OUR E188CC and won its clarity and definition. Unfortunately these lamps are very expensive. But there's really improved in quality, so no regrets. For cons, I do not like the compressor: soft knee. Most often I'm off and passing the signal through an external compressor.

OVERALL OPINION

I use since 2001. I like the look of the machine (clients studio too), the fact that this is not a "swiss army knife" but a machine which in some cases proved perfect. Over time it is a "super channel" that holds up well (robust, well designed). I would do this choice without hesitation. I give 8/10 to a total lack of versatility. this is not a true fault (to the extent that other machines are available). in fact it is sometimes 9/10 (or 9.5), which may be 6 or 7 out of 10, depending on the source. But what a look!

SOUND QUALITY

The main reason for purchasing this machine pro: quality!
Whatever the microphone (Neumann, G7, C414, Oktava, etc ...) the quality is there!
This is stunning gentleness and fidelity.
The EQ is very effective and there is a knack frequencies of all types of stamps. Like a magic button that brings out the "beauty" of what is recorded, and the must is with the voice, wow!

I suspect the de-trackers does this machine do its only for a short time.
The compression mode is optical, which means that reactivity take his time, and it shows! is ... musical!

It is true that fashion is ultra compression and sound that goes in food transients.
It is true that if you wait for the compressor and punch out a square wave signal, then you better look elsewhere.
But for those who love fine, so there go for it!

It is sweet, soft, deep, loyal, warm and precise, nuanced, and never in bad taste!
There should be a real concern to hearing a "bad decision" with this machine.

I sometimes compensates compression "soft" or rather a gentle trip on my Manley Vari-Mu, and there ... says it all!

I put 9/10 in sound quality with pure nitpicking because I must admit that when you push a little treble, it feels a little breath make its appearance, even after a good hour of heating, but hey, it remains in the analog!

OVERALL OPINION

It's been 10 years since I use it, it's solid!

I prefer the Focusrite ISA certainly more accurate, but less versatile.

I will not make this choice because I prefer to multiply the preamp to have a choice, and as I already ... and then must admit that it is not given the beast!

A must for any studio worthy of the name.

This is a tube preamp, but using modern technology, it does sound a little different from the classic tube preamps. This has two preamps on it, both of which have the same controls. It needs to be put into a racked unit to work, and you need to either plug directly into it or have it set up in your patch bay to work.


UTILIZATION

The editing on this pre-amp isn't much different than most pre-amps. For each channel, It has an attenuation (input gain) knob. phantom power (+48v), a -20db pad, and phase reverse. Each channel also has an input (Lo-Z) that is designed to perform well with transformerless mics. The manual will explain everything about this pre-amp in detail, and the customer service that comes with it is very good. If you have any questions concerns or issues of any kind all you have to do is call up the people at Avalon and they will take care of you with no questions asked.


SOUND QUALITY

This preamp has a great sound to it. It doesn't color the sound too drastically, although it isn't completely transparent. However, most of the time you don't want something completely transparent anyway, mainly because it'd be a dull sound. The Fearn sounds particularly good with low end instruments like bass and kick drums, but it can be used for all instruments well. It does a particularly good job of bringing out a full, round sound and emphasizing the favorable frequencies.


OVERALL OPINION

I like the sound of this preamp the best. I haven't had the chance to use the Lo-Z input yet, but I look forward to it. The phase reverse and phantom power work fine, and the pad is useful. There isn't much more to say, other than this is a great tube pre-amp with a few modern touches thrown in for good measure.

- Bass: This is a shelf with a knob to select the frequency Crant: 15 30, 60 or 150 Hz
- Low and High mid mid: frequency selection knob by a non Crant between 35 and 450Hz for LowMid, 220 and 2800Hz for HighMid.
switches on each of two bands: Hi Q (for Q So SERRS) and "x10" which multiplies the freq. by 10. Super practical /
- Treble: As a shelf. 4 selectable frequencies: 10k, 15k, 20k or 32k

The "plus" is that with a little switch, you can put the two bands mediums in side chain compressor, and ca ... is happiness! Only regret, we could choose to sidechain one band and not necessarily the 2

SOUND QUALITY

This is an excellent product!
Very sweet! Sounds a bit "silk effect"!
Very gentle compression for some use, can be too soft. But the voices => awesome!
Entree instrument great! It goes low, the fact ca. And the EQ is really gnial! Yet the sweetness! You may turn in any direction, it's still music!
I find the EQ on a super low for example.

The function of the sidechain EQ is really great!

This machine brings the sweetness to résumé!

OVERALL OPINION

I use instensivement for 4 months, and it's always happy when I pass something in it!
Before that, I had a TL audio ... => Not the same anyway:]
It is obviously quite expensive ... but hey, ... there is no secret.

UTILIZATION

Overall use is fairly simple but watch the sliders have tremendous efficiency. Y'all need molo notament with EQ.

The sound quality is exceptional. The voices come out great and the special instruments guitars and basses.
this thing is a drug, once you tasted There's more you can do without.

No particular color is something pro.

OVERALL OPINION

I'm using for over two years. I bought his little brother (the VT747sp) and one thing I regret is not being rich enough to buy one for every console.
any studio must have a name, sound terrible.
It is obvious that one must compare it to high-end models to judge but it became a reference.
the price? and yes that's the problem, but can not regret the purchase.

SOUND QUALITY

The Vt is great.
I just see it for 2 weeks.
Couple has a Neumann U87 or KMS 105 for voix.Le any way to Digi 002, cest super.
The sound that comes out of the machine is very professional.
Must be set and its sound as everyone I would just say that I ca m arrange.
I used to the acoustic guitars and bass and vocals.
The guys are right: C is a trick pro.
C is expensive but hey, it's worth the pleasure.

No I have not tried many of modeles.Beaucoup preamps are.
But the Avalon is GOOD.
