It is a digital 64-channel console with 48 channels with full process equalizer, compressor, gate etc ... Works by layer 24 and has 12 auxiliary buses. You can work up to the 96-bit 24 khz. The type of synchronization can be MTC or LTC. Automation is possible without worries

UTILIZATION

It is a Japanese approach to interpret the pocket from right to left. The manual is not very clear. Otherwise everything is at an easily accessible console can act as a control surface.

OVERALL OPINION

I worked on it several times in a studio in Belgium once we understood how it's childish. After you will have hours of running I think otherwise it will make you crazy. UTILIZATION

OS really easy, no comparison with 3200 which was to my taste a real ordeal maneuver. I had one before that Beringher ddx32 A tascam 3200 and O1V96. Yamaha for me is the Chinese, impractical in the studio .. Tascam has a hell worse than navigating all the rest. The DDX on the other hand was really an example of functionality that the Tascam 4800 is inspired and is a real plus for them. The manual is enough to know that some digital and menu and submenus. SOUNDS

The convertos they are beautiful forms a good couple with préamplifs and gives a very clear and transparent that people unsophisticated and not qualify handyman see horrible cold (see other review).
We are witnessing a real studio console that respect between the sound ... No flattering color and excessive shine. I love it. I can then stained with a lamp or external peripheral with good plugin. Compression and superb as making tool. Many people uses compression to inflate their sound .... Mastering the dynamics and the role of compressors ... Once again the tascam do a job in the shade. Transparency still ... The équalos are just okay without more, to live they should be less effective in the studio already, not enough music but I think it's a matter of taste. No external peripheral ....

In short:
A real dynamic.
Real compressors.
Nice reverb TC.

Race knobs earnings in line with the 3200: (
No starting layer for the purpose.
Optional FireWire card ...

OVERALL OPINION

The studio for 5 years now it is by far the best console I've had.
On the differences from its competitors in price (it does not in fact) it is well suited for the studio. (Yam it horror)
The OS is a clear grip facilitating the work of instinct and so has the former.
These audio qualities but it's small default background in a table with which you can safely assume prod.
She did not fade before has the largest (in terms of price) and compares favorably.
Its price in view of these features is unbeatable.
And of course I would do this choice

recently (construction of a studio before installation).
I was in the analogue and nothing to do.

effects all over "chemical" as each other, équalos parametric "accurate" but cold ...

UTILIZATION

the general config is difficult to access, this is clearly not designed to work in live sound, manual translation is fairly low-end, in short they need to understand the digital tascam to get there quickly.

SOUNDS

preamps are horrible, but so awful, it's even a Bassman cools everything back by a ribbon, unless you opt for external preamps do not expect to get a nice round sound, also even with external preamps over in the table, everything will be cool and garish.
effects are absolutely hideous, and compressors are required to get some gain, but even then it overwrites the signal ...

OVERALL OPINION

I had to use it for dubbing a play, because it was the console that the company had purchased for the previous show. after two days I did everything for it to be sold as soon as possible because it was so vile.
impossible to use it properly for live if not program these scenes and remember ... not my method anyway.
The big downside of this table are the preamps and équalos, nothing to do that always sound hard and cold.
other hand have only 2 xlr outputs for a table at € 5000 is more than the foutage of geule. (I tried to make the Multicast, I quickly abandoned ...)
better a good analogue with an external rack (so yes it is heavier, more limited effects) but it is not necessarily more expensive and mostly you will have a table with a more ergonomic and better sound.

24 channel XLR, 64 channels in total, 24 bus, extensive connection (resumed from the base of DM-24 boosted with DSP). Equals full dynamic parameter + the first 48 channels (the next 16 are conceived as effects returns / machine / listening sync)
12 to 8 items and 8 returns to TRS, 4 interns or 12 routed via ADAT, TDIF or firewire ...
2 multi-effects TC and / or Tascam ... enough for the live. Those who work with plugins will probably much better

UTILIZATION

Easy (I'm from the DM-24) and adapts to your workflow: the majority of functions can be called of several ways depending on your work habits or configuration / circumstances where you are.
Comprehensive manual, which I opened only for specific issues related to the config or digital modes ... in fact they're going easily.

SOUNDS

Tascam converters in the tradition of those sound of the DM-24: Very good, and this time there is a PAD and Gain! Nothing to see question sound: it is well above the Yam
I use it live, in 96 kHz: it sounds!

OVERALL OPINION

I bought nearly new in July 2008.
Excellent value for money.
I like it for its sound, its ergonomics, the visible range (24 channels per layer) and possibilities (32 e / s Firewire is very cool).
I do not like the screen of another age (2seemy but it will change!) And its weight.
