Value For Money :
Correct
-Yes
- (See Doc)
-Everything is editable by the front (with practice) or via software Yamaha.
Two-card slots for plug-in Yamaha. These are independent of the sound module Rack ES (Polyphony and effects). According to the maps, they take part mutitimbrale mode or are driven to a different MIDI port (3 ports of 16 channels).
UTILIZATION
For connoisseurs, Yamaha, configuration is simple, it is enriched on the latest Yamaha parameters, but with a re-reading the manual possible.
For the software-yes, the front moins.Disons for editing by the front of the machine all goes by selecting page and drop parameters, however, is sitting correctemet it can be done but is best software ergonomics (USB). In a way the software is there for that ... (for the size of the Rack ES !!!!)
The manual-balance quite a bit like a listing of parameters / features / key combination, m'enfin people come here. It is a rack that request anyway that one is motivated to lay tracks ... It's not for the lazy to wait for the music that makes the music alone ... There are many parameters entering the editing sounds (layering, split, programmable LFO, effects, control matrix ...)
SOUNDS
-The sounds cover a wide range of music style. Yamaha has made an effort in terms of sound quality compared to the synth / racks pre-set pattern. Although is a matter of taste, there are some great sounds in this bike (Pianos, electric pianos, synth sounds, acoustic batterries kits and electric). In short it can be both good instrumentals Rap, R & B, Pop, Ambient, Techno, electro, funk etc. ....
The sounds are well-pêchus, good quality, the effects are sufficient in number:
=== Mode VOICE EQ 2 inserts + 1 + 1 + REVERB 1CHORUS
=== Mode PERFORMANCE (4 VOICE in split or layer) 2 inserts + 1 + 1 by VOICE EQ REVERB + 1CHORUS for 4 VOICE.
=== Mode MULTI (16 parts or voice) 8 x (2 + 1 EQ inserts by VOICE) + 1 + REVERB 1CHORUS
.... There is also a general effect, qque the mode, a multiband EQ ... I hope I have transcribed the doc and the effects effective, configurable as desired and some parameters are routable on control matrix. ...
-For the expression, it is configurable velocity curve, depth control matrix ....
-All sounds are good bills they will have weaknesses ... and to taste ...
OVERALL OPINION
I use it since 05/2005, purchased at Home-studio (Pigalle)
the +: the 8 part multitimbral mode inserts that come with their fx, the 128 voice polyphony, and two slots for plug-in card, the optical output, the separate outputs (6), the size of the ES Rack (1 U ), the sound (instruments and drum kits), the arpeggiator, the amount of its convenience, versatility.
the -: the arpeggiator is not enough customizable.
I know most gear Roland, Yamaha, EMU, Korg's not much.
Value / price.
No problem.
