Martin & Co D-1

The Martin D-1 is a dreadnought acoustic guitar that is made in the USA and isn't an acoustic/electric so it has no pick ups or setting controls. It has a pretty basic look and feel for a dreadnought acoustic and I have come to expect this sort of top notch craftsmanship from Martin guitars.

UTILIZATION

Playing the Martin D-1 is very easy as it has a great feel all along the neck. It is great for playing both rhythm and lead acoustic guitar, but I use it primarily for rhythm guitar as I feel that it is easier to play rhythm on this guitar. The shape of the guitar is the standard look that has become synonymous with Martin guitars and is pretty average in terms of weight. For those who haven't played too many dreadnought guitars, the body shape may take a little while to get used to while playing it, but that is to be expected with any guitar of this type.

SOUNDS

The sound quality of the Martin D-1 is pretty awesome, as it has a nice low end presence as well as sparkling high end response. It is just about everything you look for in an acoustic guitar sound and is the reason that Martin has become one of the world leaders when it comes to making acoustic guitar. While I use the Martin D-1 mostly for rock, pop, folk, and country it is absolutely great for any type of music in my opinion. I've used it both for recording and for live shows and I'm always happy with the way it sounds.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Martin D-1 for about a year or so and it is yet another great acoustic guitar from Martin. In my eyes Martin is the best at making acoustic guitars, and the D-1 is a prime example of what they can do, especially when it comes to dreadnought guitars. The price of the Martin D-1 is expensive, but reasonable considering the high end acoustic guitar you will be getting. The Martin D-1 is one of the classic models that Martin makes and it really doesn't get better for an acoustic guitar in this price range. Simply a great guitar made by Martin & Co.

UTILIZATION

Is the handle comfortable? I do not know, my wife will never have served as God ... But to play, there are better, you get tired very quickly.

Ergonomics is it good? Ben is a dread! It's almost like a comfortable massage table. It is not too heavy! Fortunately! I've never seen a heavy guitar sound good.

Is Access to acute easy? Yes, but especially with three grams of alcohol in squash. See above answer for acute!

Gets it easy to sound good? if it is used battery, one should be able to do something. If a guy tells me this guitar sounds is that he needs a hearing aid. on the other hand, once changed saddles, well adjusted, it becomes a killing. In the original state, it sounds almost like a diesel engine. This is winded, mate, draft, without a body, a sub shit Martin.

SOUNDS

it suits my style of music? So yes. I play with a pig and an ostrich. It goes well with the farm animals.
Since its transformation into beautiful finger picking! Just under streaming, and always very tiring.
Very good blues.

OVERALL OPINION

How long do you use ... ???? Why does this matter? it takes about 10 seconds to see if a guitar sounds. It took insist anyway, not understanding why such a beautiful guitar sounded so bad ... I told you! Just the frets to change! Good games ropes and presto!

Have you tried many other models before? Pffffffffffouu! Thank goodness! I played for 30 years! So ... a few hundred ... I think.

What I like the most. She is pretty.
What I like least: Well, I wonder how we can sell at that price a guitar that does not ring at all. Incredible! though! I tried the Gibson J 250 ... It's a big pile of crap. We really fool the world. We walk on the head!

Value for money: Well it's not terrible. There are cheaper and better (except once changed the frets). I was fortunate to inherit, as it has an emotional side that I have again and I really tried to make it sound.

But hey, go ... I may have fallen on a guitar not too fit ... So, I tried another ... the same ... Well she had probably come from the same store.

This guitar is no longer manufactured, it was replaced by Martin DM (a little different and my taste a little worse)

Be careful, the few stores who still sell the stock at a price that is more current (1250 euros) since the DM is 800 euros on average.

I bought my D-1 used on ebay for 600 euros.

I think just the ribs are pressed against-the rest is solid (unlike the DM or the back is pressed against)

OVERALL OPINION

I for a month and a half
before I had a smaller guitar (a corte to 400 euros) and there is no comparison.

D-1 has a powerful sound, very well balanced between the bass / midrange / treble, pleasant.

A recording is nickel, I place a condenser microphone in front of the rose, 45 cm, and then I remove the bass and I go back to 7.5 kHz in equ.

The guitar is very light but it must be said: fragile, at least with respect to the finish. Be very gaffe if not welts appear very quickly on the front (super fine layer of varnish, to wonder if there is one).

For my part I took some time to get used to the handle.

Anyway, overall I am very happy with this guitar.

UTILIZATION

It is a beautiful Dreadnought, simple, relatively uncluttered.

SOUNDS

The bass is very deep, the guitar is balanced. It's a real acoustic sound.
I feel however that it is especially well tailored for the picking (Blues, country ...).
The model I have is - I have contacted Martin to know and they responded very quickly - in 2006. So one of the last to be manufactured. But I think I read recently that the series is an extended (...).
I find it a bit young: it must age to give its maximum output. In any case it gives off a scent amazing! She qqs bear claws on the table (rare ...). For now the table has a white color, I'm sure it will turn yellow by qqs years (I have an OOO-1, which has already 10 years, the guitar has been considerably enhanced since both the noise level aesthetic).
Compared to my 000 in the same series, the back of the neck is not painted or very little. The gaming experience is a little different.

OVERALL OPINION

Beautiful instrument, sound quality and playing comfort
It must still qqs years!
It's a Martin and - even if it remains in a moderate price amme for Martin - the quality is really at the appointment.
In 10-15 years it will be on top!
