    Washburn D36 SDL TAHOe

    Washburn D36SDLPublished on 10/17/04 at 15:00
I aquired this guitar on ebay through a member called G Man Music. I paid $525 plus $30 for shipping.

The quality of the instrument is a very good value for the price paid. It has all of the construction features, details and finish that you'd expect to pay for in a much higher priced guitar. If you compare the type of tone woods used (Rosewood), abalone inlay work, fretboard material (ebony), ebony butterfly bridge, aaa spruce top, Grover 18:1 tuners it stacks right up to what you'll find on a MARTIN D 28. The tone, action and playability is very comparable to the Martin as well...it mgith not have quite the same volume and tone but it's darn close! It is a beautiful instrument and very e…

It is a beautiful instrument and very enjoyable to play!

It needs a little set up / adjustment work for some tone problems at the 12th fret.
Put some good strings on it...suggest MArtin 4100 SP...they sound great on this!

Very high and detailed. Good finish work and the abalone inlay in the fretboard an daround the soud hole are exquisite. Other than the set up issue with the neck at the 12th, I have no complaints. It sounds awesome, full and rich, stays in tune for days

I have enjoyed many hours of playing and am looking at getting it set up for amplification and doing small gigs / performing. I had every intention of obtaining a Martin D28, but the cost has been prohibitive for me. This is an incredible low cost alternative for anyone looking for a great playing, sounding awesome looking acoustic dreadnought. I'm sure I'll have it the rest of my playing days. Maybe some day I'll get that Martin as well! Until then I'll just keep palying the Washburn.
