« A simple machine, powerful and reliable. »
Published on 06/04/12 at 02:14Support: two removable hard drives.
I note that I do not use ANY MIDI functionality.
UTILIZATION
General configuration very simple. The manual is comprehensive and covers the needs of most users, in my opinion.
SOUNDS
I will not here review the converters, having owned this unit ONLY. For my part, I find excellent dynamics (though some have taken missed, I always found afterwards that it was the wrong adjustment or configuration: the HD24 was never responsible for this decline )
OVERALL OPINION
I use it and then 18 months of intensive (daily, sometimes for 6 to 12 non-stop) home studio (I said that I know of no other such enregistreurde; I bought, tried, j ' I was immediately captivated I also think to buy a second soon to work 48 tracks)
The PLUS + + + + +:
- Exceptional reliability: never (ever) any judgment, any bugs, any crash. This device seems indestructible.
- Accessibility: after a careful reading of the record and some returns to it from time to time, the handling is easy.
- Work with two removable hard drives, with which backups are a breeze (although the reliability of the HD24, I always backup on two separate disks).
- Price: possession of a professional quality recording made me dream for years (I owned a Tascam TSR-8 (excellent) and hesitated between the HD24 and a 24 track 2 inch tape, because j 'have a holy horror of the computer (which I do by no means denigrates here >> I have friends who do wonderful work on PC and I recognize the appeal) So, the price, even if respectable ..., I do not (too) high, anyway, I consider the price / quality ratio as EXCELLENT!
- Look, but it is obviously very subjective ... The meters are very readable and the screen, for my part, pleasant and well sized.
------ The LESS:
- Quite noisy fan (at the end of sessions, its judgment is a welcome relief)
- Screen printing on white keys pale green difficult to read
- The supplied remote is ridiculously basic. After 6 months, the scroll was not working fast back only half the time! A gimmick, unworthy of the machine it drives ... and I mean it. I'm trying right now a BRC (Big Remote Control, Remote BIG Alesis, compatible with the HD24) on which I will table a notice soon.
- Some hard disk malfunction. Ex: I have a Seagate "up" (to "load" to the ignition) up to 98% and hangs after. It is rather curious and annoying (I'm trying all possible combinations of jumpers, to no avail). I waited to find a satisfactory hard drive and I bought two others of the same model (Western Digital 280 GB, I will give later references) that give me satisfaction.
I would do of course this choice in a heartbeat!
PS: I emphasize that this opinion is only my opinion. It is only a modest contribution and a thank Audiofanzine site, so precious and rich. Good music at all!
