«  A simple machine, powerful and reliable. »

Published on 06/04/12 at 01:57
Support: two removable hard drives.

I note that I do not use ANY MIDI functionality.

USE

Simple general configuration. The manual is comprehensive and covers the needs of most users, in my opinion.

SOUNDS

I will not here to comment on the converters, having possessed THAT this unit. For my part, I find the excellent dynamic (though some catches have missed, I always found afterwards that it was a setting or configuration error: the HD24 was never responsible for this decline )dropoff window

NOTICE GLOBAL

I use it and 18 months of intensive (daily, sometimes for 6 to 12 hours non-stop) in home studio (I said that I know of no other recorder like this; I bought it, tried it, I ' I was immediately seduced -I also think soon purchase a second to work 48 tracks)

PLUS:

- Exceptional reliability: never (never!) Any judgment, any bugs, any crash. This device seems indestructible.

- Ease of access: After a careful reading of the record and some returns to here from time to time, handling is easy.

- Working with two removable hard drives, with which backups are a breeze (although the reliability of HD24, I always backup on two separate disks).

- Price: possession of a recording professional quality made me dream for years (I owned a Tascam TSR-8 (excellent) and hesitated between the HD24 and 24 runs in 2-inch strip, because I 'have a holy horror of computers (which I do not denigrate here >> I have friends who do wonderful work on PC and I recognize the lure) So, the price, even if it is ... respectable, does not seem to me High; quuoi it is, I consider the quality / price as EXCELLENT!

- Look wonderful, but it is obviously very subjective ... The bar graphs are very readable and screen, for my part, pleasant and well dimmensionné.

The LESS

- Quite noisy fan (at the end of the sessions, its judgment is a relief)

- White screen print on pale green keys hard to read

- The supplied remote is ridiculously basic. After 6 months the fast reverse scroll key only worked only half the time! A gimmick, and I weigh my words. I try now BRC (Big Remote Control The remote GROSSE Alesis compatible with the HD2) on which I will table a notice soon.

- Some hard drive malfunctioning. Ex: I have a Seagate "monte" (to "charge" the ignition) up to 98% and hangs, therefore unusable. It is curious and annoying (I'm trying all possible combinations of horsemen, nothing happens, so that was the cause on Wesrtern Digital). I expected to find a satisfactory hard drive and I bought two others (Western Digital 280 GB, I will give later references) that give me satisfaction.

I would do this choice course in a heartbeat!
