Its a monster
Published on 05/21/12 at 23:56The PV 1500 is dual channel power amp that is old. I remember using this back in like 2003. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was still sold in some stores though. It worked like a charm and did exactly what it was needed to do. Everything about this unit is built to last you a long time. Its heavy but not too heavy and the casters can handle it when you rack it up with the rest of your equipment. Another good thing about the PV 1500 is it can be used in a dark setting or at night because the interface led’s light up good and it kind of provides some navigation when you need it if you are semi familiar with the layout of it you will be able to use the LED lights to your advantage.

There are 3 fans I think that provide cooling to the PV 1500 because it can get very hot, and very fast. Its kind of like a computer but way worse. I cant remember the exact price that I paid for the 1500 years ago but I can remember it wasn’t that much. It was probably a standard price for an amp back in 2000 or so.
I am very happy to say that I have used this amp, I do not currently still own it I have moved on to many other amps since this one. But this one will forever be one of my favorite ones just because it worked great didn’t cause any problems and I have dropped it 10 plus times and it did no damage to it. The PV 1500 is monster and will continue to work for you. The question is are they still being produced? Or have the just discontinued and replaced it with another model?See less00 - MGR/James Yeakey www.sdsband.com
Peavey PV 1500/900 Power Amps
Published on 12/03/04 at 15:00Paid $400.00/1500(2) and $325/900 at Smith Music in Quincy IL Bought them as starter amps in a new PA system. the 900 is used to drive the stage monitors. The 2 1500 drive the mains and subs.
The are good amps for the price. They each have very bright led's that I can see from a good distance to know when they are getting close to peak. Plus they have the DDT system that helps with clipping and distortion. 3 speed fans to cool them off and they are fully automatic
They dont have 1/4 speaker outputs. and they arent as flexible for different impedence situations.

The outer casing is very thick almost to the point of being too heavy. The rack mounts are heavy gauge steel as well so there is no twisting or rear support req'd.
All in all these are good amps. Especially coming from Peavey. They are slowly making a comeback to better quality equipment.and for the price they are very competitive

great amp
Published on 10/16/11 at 22:13Peavey makes some good amps, and the Peavey PV 1500 is no exception. Also, there is no question that this is a clean sounding and powerful unit. The problem is the cooling system. It may keep the amp cool, but it is a 2 speed system, and it is very noisy. We have one of these at our church, and it makes more noise while idling than our other 4 amps combined (3 QSC 1200s and 1 Peavey GPS 1500). Bad enough, but when the fan ramps up to high gear, it can be heard throughout the church. We've even had the fan isolated from the casing, and the noise is still too much. I will be returning this amp and trying to find something else that makes less noise, like an airplane engine.

The PV 1500 has 2 channels and 500W RMS. Its only weighs right around 40 pounds or so. Give or take a few pounds, but that makes it portable. 1 person can get this in and out of the car for your gigs or events that you need it for. It is very reliable and has a lot of features that you will love.
The built in 150hz sub woofer crossover with TRS output was something that I was looking for in a affordable amp, and I found it with the peavey pv 1500.
Overall, The Pv-1500 has great power, awesome sound and its built like a tank! If this amp is half as reliable as the other Peavey amps/equipment that i have than i will be a happy camper. I have used Peavey equipment for 6 years and they have never failed me once. The PV-1500 has a 5 year warranty also, the best warranty out there. Do yourself a favor and buy this amp you will love it. I am happy to say that I purchased this and dont regret it at all.

no saturation even at the bottom without being obviously in the peaks
good sound and even though I have added a BBE (that is better anyway)
and recommend a good speaker with mini 400W rms (Beyma in 12 "or 15" + Engine 1 "B & C speakers Mylar eg.; go to Bernard rope ...)20 - bpmccauley1Published on 10/16/08 at 04:39I have been using this power amp for over a year now to power the mains in my PA system. I have it powering 2 Yamaha BR15M 15" speakers. I actually picked it up used from a local music shop. That being said I feel that I got a great deal on it. I think when all was said and done I ended up paying around $250 for it, about half the list price. I've never had any problems with this amp, and the distortation elimination features that it has are great. I would have definitely been willing to pay full price for the amp had I bought it new, considering I got it at about 1/2 the price I feel that I got a steal!

I've used this amp in a variety of situations from small coffee shop gigs (I play acoustic guitar) to shows with over 300 or so in attendance and I've never had problems. In fact I've never had the power on each channel turned up more than 1/2 way. So needless to say this amp has plenty of power. I could probably play shows double the size of the ones I have been with no problems.
It has plenty of options and connections so there shouldn't be any problem intergrating this amp into your current PA if you are looking at add another. For example it has banana plug or speakon outs for the mains which is nice. I has 1/4" or XLR ins from the mixer which is also nice, so you have a lot of flexibility when using this amp with existing equipment or if you were to purchase new stuff.
I'm really happy with my purchase of this amp, it's the only piece of equipment that I've purchased used and I have absolutely no regrets.
I would definitely recommend this amp to anyone, great power, great flexibility, and a great price...what more could you ask for right?See less00
