It is a versatile hyper-cardioid dynamic microphone.
It is effective on many sources, with a very detailed without being cold or aggressive.
I love it.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it occasionally for 2 years, especially for the sound - or my own group, when I do the sound of other groups.
In this context, I obviously used a lot of dynamic microphones: SM58, SM57, Beta57, AT2010, Sennheiser e935 (also beautiful microphone for voice), Sennheiser E865 ...

I used it on many sources, and each time it was perfect.
Some examples:
- On the man's voice: a feeble voice, no technique, alto range in a difficult acoustic (very reverberant, with risks larsens), it allowed me to instantly find the right settings, while I struggled for 20 minutes with an SM58. Sharper and more detailed, more output gain, less sensitive to grip. In the general mess, we heard the singer ...
- On a voice very powerful and technical women in general very acute (a lot of head voice), it worked very well, with a good accuracy without aggressiveness.
- On an atrocious concert where the singer was back in return (he had two for himself, it is a star that I will not mention the name magnanimity) in a highly reverberant room, it took I the music for a acoustic guitar. Anxiety. Condenser mics (Oktava MK012) I used were too sensitive to grip (the singer was strongest on stage and in the hall - crazy), and I had no cell. Well, the M88 has the job without (too much) problem. It was a bit limited in terms of volume, but frankly I do not believe it. Again, the guitar has found its way into the mix, both in terms of sharpness and frequency in terms of volume (which seemed at first impossible to view)
- On skyscrapers amps, a cajon, snare moult and other sources, it is frankly excellent both times.

What I like most is its versatility, output gain, accuracy, neutrality. The fact that it may interfere with hypercardioid (do not move too much), but it also helps to isolate the other instruments or ambient mess (see my experiences with him)
I find nothing to complain about. Obviously, there are more happy for a particular source or a particular aesthetic, but in terms of versatility, this is the most amazing I have ever dynamic choice.
Obviously, for less than 300 € I would do this choice. The value for money is excellent!

Excellent on brass, clarinet, guitar amp, acoustic guitar, bass drum, bass amp, with low perceived.

OVERALL OPINION

I use since 2011.
Pros: versatility, sound quality, bass.
the -: I'll nitpick, the diameter is a little big and it forces some to return to my Shure clips.
It is about 300 € but it's worth bluntly, I put 9 because there must be better, but also versatile, look for!

it is a fairly robust and well dynamic cardio for sources with severe (bass drum, tom bass amp ... some voices but requires that the microphone is on a mic stand because handling noise pass .. . should also provide a great low cut if you want to use it on vocals) that I have is the m88 TG therefore not original (I read somewhere that it was specially designed for the road)

OVERALL OPINION

I use since its purchase so mid 2012 (I 03 of the m88 and many others in beyerdynamic). I have not tried a lot of pickups in the genre and I think well above shures (SM57 and 58 and even Beta) based applications. he walks in a nickel bass drum, toms on some clear cases (with the body) for bass amps (my favorite use)
what I like least is the bump in the high mids which is quite unpleasant for some uses (some snare or toms)
yes I do it again this choice because it is a very good mic, fairly robust and versatile.
PS: one of my 88TG gives more bass after Berhinger branch on a console that was obviously a problem.

Micro electro super-or hyper-cardioid, with a surprisingly fast impulse response for a dynamic mic.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for various applications, for example:
- In the studio, inside kick drums attack to capture a few inches from the impact of the bat, in addition to a static placed outside the center of the resonance.
- In concert, over snare: the dry and precise.
- In concert for some voices, but it does not fit all.
- In concert resumed guitar amp: restores well-Mesa Boogie.

I really love the temporal precision of this microphone. I think it captures the complex articulations and sounds fast. It is a thousand times more net SM57 without being shiny or slimy as in acute MD421. It sometimes gives weird character to the medium, without that I can not identify where it comes from technically. He did not have the clarity of electrostatic, but this is not what I asked.
I put 10 out of 10 because, as a pair of shoes, it is not appropriate in all circumstances, but her strong character excels on certain lands.

Hypercardio versatile dynamic microphone and PA Studio

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6 years, the ratio Q / P is good, I would do this choice because if my D112 or my sub kick is very good ... M88 sound often leads to further my Kick!
I also have a Beta57, but the beyer is often softer on the voice.
I therefore used the Kick Cajon, Vox sound, sax nearby ... and even snares too bubbly for SM57.
The only flaw that is common to this type of POPs Mic is because there a big proximity effect ...

The M 88 TG is a microphone that can be used for your vocals and a few different brass instruments, but I wouldn’t take it any farther than that. It has a wide frequency response that will make your vocals sound amazing. They do say that it can be used for woodwind instruments, but I didn’t like the way it sounded when I heard it with a few different woodwind instruments including the sax (alto). The M 88 TG is very thin and skinny and it comes with a carry pouch that makes it easy to take anywhere with you. It can be used for either live or recording, they both produce a good sound.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, depending on which instrument you use this microphone with is what will make or break whether or not you should buy it. It does sound great with vocals though I can admit that, but if you are looking for just a vocal microphone then you wouldn’t want to go with this one because it cost over 300 dollars and that is a little too much for a home studio vocal microphone when there are other ones that cost way less and sound the same. If you are looking for a multi purpose microphone I say stick with some of the mid range Shure lines. The Beyerdynamic M 88 TG does sound great, but only with certain instruments. The microphone just was not for me so I never purchased it, but I didn’t have a chance to work with it in a studio downtown. I was not a fan of it, if you are interested in getting the M 88 TG I would say try to test it out on what you will be needing it for before you purchase it, it will save you a headache in the long run. I have used a lot of different microphones from Beyerdynamic but this one was so difficult for me to understand when it sounds so good with certain instruments and with others sounded less then ok.

I use this mic for over 5 years, and I immediately find every day a new use.
First trsrput for percussion and bass drum, it s'avre particulirement effective on resumption of guitar or bass amps, brass and basses. and that both live in the studio.

OVERALL OPINION

It provides a rich, compact, trs apprcier on some votes, in excellent bass drum (not vulgar) on trumpets and other brass instruments (his pai), on guitar amp (its organic and powerful). ..

I would add that 88 is a micro-class singing.
If you sing very prs of the capsule, you will gain an incredible and a lightweight prsence compresa natural, that is sure to impress your guests.
The problem is that the 88 does not tolerate any noise-handling. So to book a singer instrumentiste.Par 88 is against the casi inssensible hooks to live ... and a good point too.
