« Very good digital processor »
Published on 11/26/13 at 05:08It is a multiband processor with digital inputs and outputs balanced AES / EBU, classic analog input and analog output for listening without the delay caused by the limiter or predictive but with a small latency 14 ms.
While the XLR!
I wish an analog output with adjustable gain but hey where my grade 8 ... But I'm hard, it is true that the first processor that is meant to be integrated into a digital channel and then output as input, not to mention the resolution, are adjustable.
UTILIZATION
The manual is very complete as always with Orban.
The setting of this machine must be done by a professional.
However, beginners can smoothly use many factory presets that can be set in a general way using a single command less / more (less or more).
The EQ section is set to the ear including parametric equalizers.
It is possible to choose the bandwidth between 20 kHz and 4 kHz. For example, you can cut your spectrum 15Khz like processors for FM radio.
It should be noted that this machine does not need an internal fan to cool and therefore not a sound is heard in contrast to other digital processors in Orban or Omnia or other manufacturers like Aphex.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound of this machine is very soft, mode two bands (purist) that does not alter the spectral balance of sounds.
However in multiband (5 bands) fashion the sound is more powerful and it operates mainly automatic re-equalization of the sound spectrum.
It sounds great round and warm. It is not to make excessive density.
The overall sound quality is very professional.
OVERALL OPINION
I used several of these machines for quite a few years.
It is remotely controlled via a PC running windows xp serial port.
The price of new and certainly very expensive (U.S. $ 6250, more than 4600 euros) but the opportunity cost of about 1000-1500 euros remains correct with respect to the overall quality of this product.
