    Beautiful and Groovy!

Fender Modern Player Jaguar BassPublished on 12/26/12 at 03:18
(This content has been automatically translated from French)
It is a Fender Chinese series Modern Player Jaguar Bass therefore form but with a passive micro config J / P is a serious Precision micro and micro Jazz acute.
Three knobs: a micro volume and tone.
Koto body, rather light wood behaves well and offers a violin sustain correct.
Handle (type C Jazz Bass) and maple fingerboard VERY gloss and honey colored markings on black blocks Squier Vintage Modified 70's JB.
Cordier sturdy chromed brass saddles, no strings-through.
lifts open but precise, pleasant and stable (once the screws tightened).
    Shrink perfect.
For the "Modern Player" look is still very retro.

In fact I had a Jaguar Bass MIJ and has the same level of finish (ie perfect).
Single point to improve: the Nut, a little cheap: to replace the opportunity ...

    UTILIZATION

    The factory setting:
    - Handle: perfect, checked the curvature of my ideal model.
    - Intonation: very good: we're just all over the handle including the latest boxes that are very easily out all harmonics only.
    - Action: too high, can be used as arc :/.
    - Height of microphones: to resume a bit, I found some at the G string on the neck pickup.
    - A silly detail: the microphones handle is massive enough so its role thumb rest is not the easiest, it is a matter of habit I think ...

Low balanced (better than MIJ Jag itchy nose) in weight and very comfortable to handle, after the Jaguar shape, you're a fan or not, but it sits nicely in hand.

    SOUNDS

    Sound:
    - Power microphones: RAS liabilities, it sends severe.
    - Variety of settings: the neck pickup is very deep, the serious bass, background for me, perfect for reggae / dub and soul. The bridge pickup adds a little color in the midrange / treble, 2/3 for me. Finally, the tone knob deserves to be closed (60% to 100%) to confirm the orientation of the instrument deep. It is not too rock medium in a register, this bass goes for hot music (soul, dub, jazz).
    - Electronics: light buzz when you loose the strings but not so shielding wholesale electronics damn well, much better than the MIJ Jag!
    - Pickups: I do not have enough back for the moment, seems to me an upgrade possible in the medium term but for the Fender way to keep the spirit of the intrument FENDERIEN VERY ...
I do not Slappe but she looks good slap sound anyway.
I play DI or Ashdown mag 300 but I think it would suit a Fender amp much better ...

    OVERALL OPINION

After three weeks of use I am positively conquered, it has the look and the sound that I wanted.
I played Squier (VM) Fender jap and Korean Cort but this one is my favorite.
I think this bass is damn better and more consistent than the MIJ Jaguar "deluxe" with the escape and electronic config Jazz "activatable" gadget.
The ratio Q / P is simply one of the best that are a cut above the Squier VM and CV for the same price, a notch and a half above the standard Mex for a price 30% lower.
Quality level, I think we're at the Mex Classic series.
    Maybe a micro upgrade .... but ...
This is a low to recommend to anyone who loves Fender and is seduced by her looks, the song is the plumage!
