«  Do not forget at the time of his choice »

Published on 10/19/13 at 12:33
French manufacturing maker Thierry Etienne, 21 frets, neck and maple fingerboard, bridge Luthman, 1 pickup-type music man "brand bassculture" a neck pickup Jazzbass kind of brand "bassculture" electronic "Noll". 1 volume setting active / passive,
1 mix microphones, one acute setting, one medium, one serious. Pickups and knobs covered in maple wood. Easel Luthman body Ovangkol.

UTILIZATION

The neck width at nut 40 against 38 on my musicman sterling, has a flatter than the musicman profile. For my part I do not have long fingers, I could fear any difficulty compared to my sterling. There has been nothing. The flat profile of the handle of the wave is perfectly suited to my hand. More finishing touch is the remarkable dragging is exceptional. I do not speak of "highway", this phrase did not make sense to me, but I will say that the handle is in the top three rounds of low I could find (among other Jazzbass FENDER, Leduc masterpieces, godin BG4, Warwick and a dozen other brands ... I am 63 years old and 45-year low ...) Access to acute is not basically my concern, but it seems no problem.
Magnet particularly its "musicman", my only concern was not able to find the grain of my ex "Sterling"

SOUNDS

Work on the mix has allowed me to find the part I was waiting for her, acute corrections, middle and bass is effective and can chop the sound to his liking, though for my part I avoid using too corrections. You can spend very deep bass to crystal clear highs, mids dig. Corrections are devastatingly effective. For my part, a middle position, medium dug a little for me.
I currently use a combo SWR working pro 15, median setting, no added effects. I note that the "passive" mode of this bass is great and makes me easily forget the "active" mode.

OVERALL OPINION

I only play this instrument for 15 days, but considering all the brands I have known in 45 years (I change very often), it is in the forefront alongside Leduc and musicman (and a blow heart for the little known Godin BG4 has a happy when I sold it) So if you have a budget between 1500 and 2000 euros, to ogle a French luthier named Thierry Etienne (Luthman) and forget brands usa or German, you will not regret your choice and allow a French luthier that we continue to make great instruments craftsman. I forgot the value for money is excellent considering the outstanding finish of this bass.
